Cluster Sampling

Suppose you want to know the number of elementary students in Boljoon Central
Elementary school who experienced any form abuse among their household. We may use the
cluster sampling, by subdividing the school by grade level in order to indicate the precise
number of elementary students who got abused at home.

The Elementary schools are now divided into 6 clusters one for each year level, from grade 1 to
grade 6.

Purposive Sampling

A zumba dance instructor selects participants from his dance students and allocates
them for extra sessions on zumba dances to ensure ideal results in health and form later on the
future. The instructor uses his judgment to decide who he must recommend the extra sessions
to; this is what you call purposive sampling.

The Zumba dance instructor only pulled out his students who look over weight and not in shape.
Snowball Sampling

Suppose the researcher wishes to interview retired military veterans, to ask them on
their remarkable experiences. Researchers could fine at least 2 veterans which they could
interview, and lead them to the other veterans who they might know. This is what you call
Snowball Sampling.

The researchers were able to interview a lot of veterans by recommendations from other
veterans.

Convenience Sampling

The researchers’ wants to survey his classmates on how many of them played
Multiplayer Online Battle Arena on a daily bases. They only surveyed there fellow classmates
who are in the same room or section as them. This is an example of Convenience Sampling.

The researcher was able to get the information he need immediately since all of his respondents
are close to him and his classmates.
