RUNNING HEAD: TELL THE WORLD PROJECT REFLECTION
The COVID-19 pandemic was a devastating event that affected all of us. It changed how

we interacted, our lifestyle, and most importantly, it changed how we see healthcare. I was just

starting out in nursing school when the pandemic hit. When this happened, I saw a rippling effect

across the medical field and saw how the pandemic had caused major changes in nursing. Fast

forward to when I graduated with my ADN and became a new grad, we were considered to be in

the “post” pandemic era and with that came more changes. So much has happened in the past

three years in the world nursing and I wanted to tell my story of the changes that I have

witnessed and experienced as a nurse. This reflection is an introspection of how I came up with

the idea for my Tell the World Project and why I thought it was important to share my story.

When I first read about the project, I had difficulty figuring what I wanted to share of my

nursing experience and how I wanted to do it. I wasn’t even sure where to begin, since I am a

new graduate nurse and felt as though I did not have a lot to look back on regarding my nursing

experience other than my experienced in nursing school. Then I realized that my nursing school

and new graduate nurse experience looked a lot different to the nurses who were before me.

After some consideration, I decided to discuss my nursing school and new grad experience

during the pandemic and “post” pandemic. After coming up with my idea, I decided on creating

a YouTube video because the platform, anyone would be able to see my video.

Overall, my project came together smoothly. The only issue that I came across while

doing this project was organizing my thoughts. I felt that there was so much that I wanted share

that it became overwhelming. To overcome this, I wrote down an outline of the key points that I

wanted to discuss. This helped me gain a better sense of what purpose I wanted the video to

convey. It was actually, through writing the outline for my video that I was able to develop my

nursing philosophy, “Strive to care, even when it's difficult, because small actions can change

someone's day for the better "(Ashely Murphy, 2022). This project also provided me with closure

what I went through and the challenges I faced in nursing school and as a new graduate nurse.

Through this project I was able to reflect and discuss how my outlook of nursing has

changed from nursing school during the pandemic compared to my experience as a new graduate

“post” pandemic. My Tell the World Project is important to because allowed my voice to be

heard about the challenges and changes I have face in my nursing career due to the pandemic. I

am glad to have done this project as it shows how much I have grown from a nursing student to a

new graduate RN. It is also provides documentation of the progress I have made in my nursing

career. I now will have something to look back on as I continue to move forward in my nursing

career.
