1. Examine your own feelings about developing competency in nursing

informatics.
 Nowadays, technology are being developed and enhanced. Information
and data are being gathered easily and accessible through computers. As
a nursing student, we should know how to use such especially in our
chosen field. Through this our work will be faster and we enhance our
time. Stragger, Gassert & Curran (2001) defined nursing informatics
competencies (NIC) as “the integration of knowledge, skills, and attitudes
in the performance of various nursing informatics activities within
prescribed levels of nursing practice”.

2.What issues come to mind when you reflect on the need for all Filipino
nurses to become cognizant and skilled in nursing informatics?

 The issues that comes to my mind when I reflect on the need for the
Filipino nurses to become cognizant and skilled in nursing informatics are
lack of knowledge about computers and how to use it and lack of facilities
and equipment. There are some instructors who are skilled enough to
teach and enhance students skills and knowledge but there are not
enough to teach a thousands of students specially of not having enough
facilities and equipment to be used.

3. How will nursing education change as nursing informatics becomes a

strong foci for nursing curriculum?
 Nursing education change as nursing informatics becomes a strong foci
for nursing curriculum through this, information and data are being
gathered easily which leads for the student to gain more knowledge and
skills about nursing. We can easily access the information from other
country with the help of computers. New developed skills are being taught.

1. Examine your own feelings and preparedness for using computers in

your Nursing work.

 As a nursing student who graduated from a Kto12 curriculum, I can say

that I have enough knowledge to handle a computer. But in the field of
nursing with having a different system to take, I need to learn more and
enhance my skills because this is more hard and different from the usual
computer knowledge that I know. Information should be learned for
specific field. I still have to know and dig deep about Nursing Informatics
because this is new for me.

2. Reflect on your own level of computer literacy. What do you need to

know, be, and do to become a proficient computer user?

 I need to know the different system used in nursing and what type of
computers are used. Still need to know the pro’s and con’s of nursing
informatics. The competencies and the basic knowledge’s. I know how to
handle a computer but if it is in the field of nursing there are differences
that I should know and enhance with. Through this I can gather
information easily and I can manage my time on how to take care of the
patient.

3. Cyberphobia is a term used to describe symptoms of anxiety and dread

related to using computers and technology. Do you recognize any personal
feelings of cyberphobia? If so, what can you do to work through these
feelings?

 I can say that I kind of feel cyberphobia, cause I’m not a pro computer
user. It think for me to work through his feelings I’ll study more about it
and pvercome this feeling that I can do it. I will also seek some
professional to ask for information and knowledge. Try to watch videos at
youtube about it for me to know how to handle it without having
cyberphobia.
