1. ALLY- a person who
confronts and challenges
heterosexism, sexism,
homophobia, transphobia,
and heterosexual privilege in
herself or himself and
others.

2. AGENDER-‘a-‘meaning
“without”, also called
genderless, gender-free,
non-gendered, or
ungendered, are those who
identify as having no gender
or being without a gender
identity

3. ANDROGYNY. The
mixing of masculine and
feminine gender
expression or the lack of
gender identification.

4. ASEXUAL-not sexually
attracted to anyone and/or no
desire to act on attraction to
anyone. Does not necessarily
mean sexless. Asexual people
sometimes do experience
affectional (romantic)
attraction.

5. CISGENDER
- Describes a person whose
gender identity matches his
or her sex assigned at birth -
denoting or relating to a
person whose sense of
personal identity and gender
corresponds with their birth
sex.

6.COMING OUT.
Describes the act or
process of voluntarily
disclosing one’s
sexual orientation or
gender identity.

7. CROSSDRESSER.
Refers to occasionally
wearing clothing of the
“opposite” gender, and
someone who considers this
an integral part of their
identity may identify as a
crossdresser.

8. INTERSEX
Describes a set of medical conditions
that feature congenital anomaly of the
reproductive and sexual system. That
is, intersex people are born with sex
chromosomes, external genitalia, or
internal reproductive systems that are
not considered “typical” for either
males or females.

● Describes a person who is
attracted to individuals of the
same gender. While
historically used to refer
specifically to men, it is often
used to refer to women
attracted to other women, as
well.

10. GENDER NON
CONFORMING (GNC).
Refers to people who do not
conform to the stereotypical
or social expectations of their
gender or birth sex. Their
gender expression will always
be different from their actual
gender.

11. HOMOPHOBIA.
The irrational hatred
and fear of lesbian or
gay people, or
disapproval of other
sexual orientations,
regardless of
motive.

term used to describe a
homosexual person who
has not told anyone of
his/her sexual
orientation.

13. LESBIAN
Describes a woman who is
attracted to other women.
LIPSTICK LESBIAN-a
lesbian who favors a
glamorous, traditionally
feminine style

14. LGBT. An acronym used to describe


lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
persons, or the community as a whole.
There are many other variations or
extensions of the LGBT/GLBT acronym
that include initials to represent terms
such as questioning, queer, intersex,
allied, and two-spirited.

15. PANSEXUAL/FLUID.
Attracted to people
regardless of gender.

16. QUEER. Is an
umbrella term for sexual
and gender minorities
who are not heterosexual
nor are cisgender.
Original meaning is
‘strange’ or
‘peculiar’.

17. QUESTIONING. People


who are unsure of, or in the
process of, discovering
their sexual orientation,
gender identity, or gender
expression.
18. TRANSGENDER
● Describes a person whose gender identity and
sex assigned at birth do not match.
● A transgender boy or transgender man is
someone who was assigned a female sex at birth
but whose gender identity is male. He
understands himself to be male and lives, or
desires to live, as a boy and, later, a man. ● A
transgender girl or transgender woman is
someone who was assigned a male sex at birth
but whose gender identity is female. She
understands herself to be female and lives, or
desires to live, as a girl and, later, a woman.

● A transgender (transwomen, transmen) is and


individual identifies themselves different from
the sex they were born with.

● For example, a person who was born biologically


as a male (has a penis) and identifies themselves
as a female (transwoman).

● Or, an individual who was born biologically as a


female (has a vagina) and identifies themselves as
a male (transman).
