and Time 8:00am – 9:00 am Chadwick 1:00pm – 2:00pm Mendeleev
9:00am – 10:00am Darwin 3:00pm – 4:00pm Tesla
10:00am – 11:00am Einstein 4:00pm – 5:00pm Curie

I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
1. The human origins and the capacity for culture.
A. Content Standards
2. the role of culture in human adaptation.
3. processes of cultural and sociopolitical evolution.
The learners, analyze key features of interrelationships of biological, cultural,
B. Performance Standards and sociopolitical processes in human evolution that can still be used and
developed.
C. Learning Competencies/ Analyze the significance of cultural, social, political, and economic symbols and
Objectives practices (MELC 4).

Objectives:
1. Trace the biological evolution of early to modern humans.
2. Analyze the biological evolution of early to modern humans.
3. Create a timeline showing the development of biological evolution of
early to modern humans.
II. CONTENT
Biological Evolution from Early to Modern Humans
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages
2. Learner’s Materials pages
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from
Learning Resource (LR) Module in Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics (1st version)
portal
B. Other Learning Resources Quipper.com
C. Materials Handout, TV, PPT slides, manila paper.
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Preparatory Activities Prayer
(5 minutes) Greetings
Checking of attendance
Retrieval of assignment
Recall of Classroom rules
 Set properly
 Listen carefully
 Raise your hand if you have question or if you want to answer.
Reminders on Safety and health protocols
 Always ware your facemask
 Maintain social distancing
 Approach the teacher immediately if not feeling well
B. Development of Lesson
1. Review On the TV screen, the teacher will flash images related to previous lesson. The
(5 minutes) students will analyze and identify which image shows ethnocentrism or cultural
relativism and explain why.

2. Motivation The teacher will present a picture about the lesson.

(2 minutes)

Stages In Human Evolution  is a photograph by David Gifford which was uploaded on October 7th, 2018.
The students will analyze the picture. and answer the following questions:

 What do you see in the picture? Describe their appearance and

expressions.
 What do you think is happening in the photo?

3. Presentation Based on the photo presented.

(3 minutes)  Give three things you might infer from the photo.
 What questions does the photograph raise in your mind?
 Where do you think could you find the answers?

Looking at the above image, you could see how humans physically transformed
through a long biological period. Knowing that primitive humans were different
from modern humans in terms of their physical and biological features, what
processes and environmental events influenced primitive human beings to
transform into the humans we know today? Lat’s find out as we move to the
next activity.

4. Activity Learning Stations.

(10 minutes) The students will be grouped into three. Each group will be assigned to work on
the assigned station. Each group will accomplish the task for 5 minutes then
present it in class.

5. Analysis Based on your activity,

(10 minutes)  How did humans evolve biologically?
 what significant events in history shaped the human evolutionary
process?
 In what ways are the early humans physically different from us?
 How can you differentiate the hominids from the homo sapiens?
 How will you explain Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution and its
connection to his theory of natural selection?
 How did the homo sapiens successfully control their environment?
6. Abstraction Based on our discussion,
(5 minutes)  what processes and environmental events influenced primitive human
beings to transform into the humans we know today?
 What do you think is the importance of studying the biological
evolution of man?

7. Application
(10 minutes) The students will be grouped into 5 or 6. Each group will create a timeline
showing the development of biological evolution of early to modern humans.

8. Evaluation Multiple Choice.

(5 minutes) 1. What is the process of developing physical and biological changes in a
species over a period of time?
a. evolution
b. excavation
c. preservation
d. divine creation
2. Which among the following existed first?
a. Homo erectus
b. Homo floresiensis
c. Homo sapiens
d. Homo habilis
3. What quality catalyzed further developments in early human evolution?
a. using only the feet in moving and going around
b. having the ability to communicate with other people
c. producing sons and daughters
d. going to another place where there are rich sources of food and water
4. Which of the following may be the cause of early human migration from
Africa to Asia and Europe?
a. feud among families
b. limited or scarce resources
c. wild and dangerous animals
d. climate change
e. both b, c & d
5. At present, human evolution is still unclear and is yet to be fully
understood. Given this, which of the following can be done to know more
about the early humans?

i.Do further research on artefactual evidence.

ii.Ask expert archaeologists about their inferences on human
evolution.
iii. Read books on archaeology.
a. statement 2
b. statement 3
c. statement 1
d. none of the given options.

V. ASSIGNMENT (5 minutes)
A. Read your handout on Cultural Evolution of Man then answer the
following questions. Write your answer in ½ sheet of intermediate
paper.
 What is cultural evolution?
 How can we trace the cultural evolution of early to modern
humans?
B. Search for online journals or articles that detail primitive tools that
were used and developed by man. Create a timeline detailing
significant events in the cultural evolutionary process. You could
choose to work in pairs or in groups of three.
