ASPECTS OF MY CULTURE THAT A BUSINESS VISITOR MIGHT FIND UNUSUAL OR

DIFFICULT

"Small businesses are the main catalyst of economic growth." P. Drucker.

Certainly, any country has its cultural and psychological aspects that differ from one country to
another, precisely for this reason, for business visits outside the country where you do business, it is
recommended to familiarize yourself with the culture of the country you are going to.
Currently, in any state, small and medium business represents the most important link of the
national economy and, thanks to its considerable contribution to the creation of new jobs, the stimulation
of competition, the promotion of innovations and technologies, social stability, the expansion of
individual economic opportunities, it is considered "backbone of the economy". With the transition to the
market economy, positive trends in the development of small and medium-sized businesses began to
appear in the Republic of Moldova, in particular, through entrepreneurial activities.
Economic realities demonstrate that in our country the emergence of small and medium-sized
enterprises is vital for revitalizing the economy by reducing/eliminating monopolies, developing free
competition and, implicitly, improving the business environment, creating new jobs, etc. The respective
field is becoming more and more multifaceted, and its share should be constantly increasing.
But SMEs face a series of problems, and studying their complex aspects definitely requires a deep
analysis, which will reveal the factors that prevent the promotion of their activity, as well as the search
for appropriate solutions for each individual problem.
Thus, for foreign visitors who come to the Republic of Moldova for business visits, the following
recommendations would be beneficial, which would help them in building the development strategy of
their companies and in the Republic of Moldova, as well as help them to understand through the prism
of our culture, all the aspects that also reflect on the business.
1. The business environment in the Republic of Moldova is very varied, there are people who do
business like in the 90s - corrupt, and those who have adapted to the current market conditions
and do business at the highest European standards, thus, the first recommendation is: analysis
of the business owner through the lens of his morality and through psychological analyses;
2. In the Republic of Moldova, there are national holidays that must be respected, so coming to the
Republic of Moldova, you must also become familiar with the holidays that apparently intervene in the
business environment and disrupt certain processes;
3. People are unstable, in terms of money, they will work where they are paid more, not necessarily
where they feel a feeling towards the employer;
4. From the perspective of culture, our people, involved in the business environment, do not have
the deadline culture, for this reason the terms, another aspect must be discussed, they have not learned to
speak openly and reflect their emotions in voice, precisely from this perspective and certain problems
appear in the business environment.
All the above aspects, but also others, come from the culture of the country and the mentality of the
residents, and as I mentioned, they differ a lot from one country to another, for this reason, all business
visits and not only, require good initial preparation and good analysis along the way so that they don't
seem so difficult.
In conclusion, we would like to admit that from the analysis carried out in the given field we can
find that, although the small and medium business in the Republic of Moldova does not register such
favorable results for the harmonious development of this sector, and, respectively, for the economic
development of the state, still this remains the basic element that essentially contributes to the prosperity
of the state and the attraction of foreign investors. In this sense, business in Moldova has enormous
potential to be attractive and to be analyzed through the lens of foreign investors, which should adapt to
the conditions and recommendations written previously.
