Classroom Policies Blended Scheme: Face-to-face weeks and off-campus

IX. CLASS POLICIES for the face-to-face scheme and some applied to off-campus
asynchronous weeks (apart from but based on the Student Handbook). You can access the copy
of the course syllabus in Canvas. It is assumed that you have read it and are responsible for
yourself about the requirements of this course and will abide by the following course policies:

1) Video, photo, or audio recording of lectures is not allowed without prior permission.
2) The use of a smartphone/tablet/laptop is strictly prohibited during onsite class. Such devices
must be kept in silent mode and out of sight of everyone. Video, photo, or audio recording of
lectures is not allowed without the professor’s prior permission. Note-taking by hand is highly
encouraged. The use of the said devices may only be permitted for specific course activities
determined by the professor during onsite class. For the first and second violations, the student
will receive email and verbal warning respectively, while for the third the student will have to
leave the class and be marked absent for the day.
3) Food and beverage (except water) are strictly prohibited inside the classroom.
4) Only the student and the teacher are the legitimate parties in settling academic matters. No
proxy (friend, classmate, parent, or relative) will be entertained. Students should directly get in
touch with the professor through the Canvas inbox.
5) Attendance or effort is required, although not graded. Only the stipulated course requirements,
such as, though not limited to those enumerated in Canvas, will be the basis for the final grade.
No extra work or removal exams will be given.
6) Absence due to official university function is still an absence. However, the student can be
given a make-up for a missed long exam on the next possible day.
7) For face-to-face classes. An absence is incurred: a) on the third count of arriving 10 minutes
after the start of class, b) arriving 15 minutes after the start of class, or c) stepping out of class for
15 minutes.
8) For face-to-face classes. Suppose the teacher is still out of the 1st quarter of the period, and no
directive is communicated. In that case, a class representative must inquire from the
administrative assistant of the Philosophy Department for instructions on alternative class
activities for the day.
9) For face-to-face classes and off-campus weeks. Failure Due to Absences or FDA is
automatically incurred after 20% absences of actual total meetings.
10) For asynchronous weeks, each student will learn independently at their own pace. However,
there still is a timeframe and deadlines to meet. If you cannot meet the deadline, it is the student's
responsibility to do three things: (a) personally request a pushback from me via Inbox, (b) state
the reason for the request (connectivity issues, illness -submit a medical certificate-) (c) propose
a DAY and TIME to re-submit.
11) For face-to-face classes. The Dress Code is strictly observed. Students who fail to abide by
this policy should not enter the university, or they shall be sent out and marked absent. For off-
campus synchronous sessions, the dress code applies. Look presentable with proper attire
(avoiding sandos, pajamas, etc.) and find a suitable background (avoiding being in bed, kitchen,
and so on).
12) Each student is responsible for regularly checking on Canvas for everything. He takes the
consequences of his actions or non-action.
13) All communications will be done through a class coordinator who assists in reaching out to
students who may need to respond through the usual communication channels or for urgent
messages from the professor. Please, be ready to give your mobile numbers for this purpose.
Your contact details are asked in the Survey Day 1 (Google form.) You will also need to get in
touch with one another in some activities that may require small group discussions.
14) Students will sign and submit three documents: The Integrity Pledge Document, the Class
Policy Document, and the Conviction Document.

Please sign and submit. "I have read the Course Class Policies."
