This course focuses on to the relationship between the school and the
community and analyzes how school culture is developed. It examines the
important role of organizational leadership in successfully implementing
educational reform policies and programs, and tackles different educational
philosophies that are related to the society as a foundation of schools and
schooling to prepare prospective teachers to become school leaders and
managers.

IV. Course Credit/Unit: 3 units

V. Course Outcomes:

At the end of the semester, the students must have:

1. Discussed the historical foundations of education in the context of different


societies, its practices and importance to shaping the current educational system.

2. Analyzed and summarized the five educational philosophies related to the society
as a foundation of schools and the initiatives of Filipino thinkers and educators in
relation to the observed practices of teachers in the current setting.

3. Developed an understanding of a school’s identity as a social institution by


discussing the school policies, their functions, and examining the interrelationship
of school and community affecting education and how it can support the
development of education in the country in general and community in particular.

4. Discussed leadership, standards, values, and practices and how the teacher’s role
is influenced by social and cultural factors that affect education in schools and their
communities.
