CLASSROOM OBSERVATION (OBS):

In each observation, all components for which there is observed evidence must be rated. Each form must
contain lesson-specific evidence for each of the components observed during a classroom observation.

This observation was: (check one)

Formal Observation (full period) Informal Observation (15 minutes minimum)

Date of Observation: 03/14/2022 Time/Period: 12:18 PM

Component Ratings

1a (obs): Demonstrating knowledge of content and pedagogy 3- Effective

"The teacher can identify important concepts of the discipline and their
relationships to one another. The teacher provides clear explanations of the
content."
(Danielson)

The teacher checked for understanding verbally throughout the lesson and would
only proceed to the next step if all the students understood the concept, task, and
instructions. For example, before introducing the anticipation guide, the teachers
probed the students for the definition of the word "anticipation/anticipate" so that
they could make a connection of what was expected of them.

1e (obs): Designing coherent instruction 3- Effective

"Learning activities are matched to instructional outcomes. The teacher provides a
variety
of
appropriately
challenging
materials
and
resources."
(Danielson)

The lesson plan contained an "Anticipation Guide" that allowed students to follow a
structured format that would build their skills to enable them to produce three
written statements at the end of the lesson: One Statement they Agreed with, One
Statement they Disagreed with, and One of their choice.

2a: Creating an environment of respect and rapport 4- Highly Effective

"The
teacher
respects
and
encourages
students’
efforts."(Danielson)

There was no disrespectful behavior among students during the observation. The
teacher has established an environment that promotes mutual respect.

2d: Managing student behavior 4- Highly Effective

Last Revised: 05/14/22 11:07:00 PM By mojeda3

"The
teacher
silently
and
subtly
monitors
student
behavior."
(Danielson)

Student behavior was entirely appropriate. The teacher has established classroom
management rules and regulations.

3b: Using questioning and discussion techniques 2- Developing

"The teacher frames some questions designed to promote student thinking, but
many have a single correct answer. The teacher asks students to explain their
reasoning,
but
only
some
students
attempt
to
do
so."
(Danielson)

The teacher asked the questions listed below, but only a few students could
respond or understand the question. Therefore, the teacher often guided or hinted
to
the
students
the
answer.

"Does
your
first
impression
of
someone
affect
how
you
act?"

"What
is
an
anticipation
guide?"

"What does it mean to anticipate?"

3c: Engaging students in learning 3- Effective

"Students are invited to explain their thinking as part of completing tasks. Materials
and
resources
support
the
learning
goals."
(Danielson)

The "Anticipation Guide" allowed the students to accomplish the task by engaging
students in a step-by-step process. For example, this allowed students to stay
focused and not overwhelmed if they were asked to write three statement
paragraphs without guidance.

3d: Using assessment in instruction 2- Developing

"The teacher monitors understanding through a single method, or without eliciting
evidence
of
understanding
from
students."
(Danielson)

During the lesson, the teacher checked for understanding verbally. However,
students were working on writing down their thoughts at one point. Therefore, they
were given a two-minute verbal warning to stop writing. However, some students
were still working on their writing, and the teacher did not walk around to check on
their current status.

ASSESSMENT OF PREPARATION AND PROFESSIONALISM (P&P):

In this section of the form, evaluators should rate evidence for components 1a, 1e, and 4e that was
observed within fifteen (15) school days prior to the classroom observation as part of an assessment
of a teacher’s preparation and professionalism. Each form must contain teacher-specific evidence
for each of the components observed.

Component Ratings

1a (p&p): Demonstrating knowledge of content and pedagogy N/A

1e (p&p): Designing coherent instruction N/A

4e (p&p): Growing and developing professionally 3- Effective

"The teacher seeks regular opportunities for continued professional
development."
(Danielson)

The teacher works closely with the Research and Development team and attends
PL aligned to PBL. Moreover, the Edison Escape room was developed based on
the book read in the teacher's class.

Additional Evaluator Notes (please attach more pages, as necessary):

Mr.
Ollivierre,

I observed your class on Monday, March 14, 2022. The aim of the lesson was, "How can we prepare for a
new
text
through
collaborative
discussion
and
short
response?"

Commendation(s):

- Incorporating an "Anticipation Guide" to allow students to be guided through mini-tasks that built their skills
to
write
three-paragraph
statements.

-
Creating
a
nurturing
and
comfortable
classroom
environment.

Recommendation(s):

- As students engage in writing activities, you should assess students formatively on their skills by walking
over
to
check
for
understanding
before
moving
on
in
the
lesson.

I look forward to observing your class again in the near future and seeing the recommendation(s)
incorporated
into
your
lesson.

Sincerely,

Moses A. Ojeda
