Reflect and answer the following questions.

1. What is the guiding principle in establishing the NSTP?

-The second section of R.A. 9163 said that the government's primary duty is to serve
and protect its citizens. In turn, it will be the citizens' obligation to protect security. A
quality or concept that is intrinsically valuable or desirable is what one acts to achieve or
preserve as value. Values Clarification is the process of discovering values or principles
through one's behavior, feelings, ideas, and important choices.

2. What are the goals of the State from among the youth in nation building?
- The state must foster civic awareness and defensive preparation in young, as well as
their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being. It will instill patriotism and
nationalism in the youth and encourage their participation in public and civic affairs.

3. What should the state do to pursue the afore cited goals?

- In order to achieve these objectives, the nation's most important resource, the youth,
must be inspired, trained, organized, and mobilized in military training, literacy, civic
welfare, and other comparable endeavors in the service of the nation.

4. What is the National Service Training Program (NSTP) all about?

- The National Service Training Program (NSTP) is a program aimed at enhancing civic
consciousness and defense preparedness in youth by developing the ethics of service
and patriotism while undergoing training in any of its three (3) program components.NSTP
is a program designed to develop the youth's physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and
social well-being, as well as promote defense preparedness and ethics of service while
undergoing training in any of its three (3) program components.
5. What are the three (3) program components of NSTP? Discuss briefly your own
understanding of each component

a. Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). It is intended to give citizen soldiers with
military training in order to motivate, train, organize, and mobilize them for national
defense preparation.

b. Reading Training Service (LTS) is a program that prepares students to teach literacy
and numeracy skills to schoolchildren, out-of-school adolescents, and other sectors of
society in need.

c. The Civic Welfare Training Service is focused at activities that have a societal impact by
contributing to "health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation, and
citizen morality."

6. Are there any institutions not covered by the NSTP? If yes, give at least 1 example and
explain why?

- The (PMA) Philippine Military Academy , (PMMA) Philippine Merchant Marine


Academy,and (PNPA) Philippine National P:olice Academy, are not covered by NSTP Law
due to their unique nature.
