1. Isu Yang Difokuskan

I want to highlight the problem of passive pupils in the classroom and reluctant to participate
in classroom activities, especially in whole class activities. I noticed that some pupils who
have participated in most of the activities in the class respond repeatedly and the same pupil
were actively involved in all the activities.

2. Analisis Isu Yang Difokuskan (Punca dan Kesan Isu)

Learning is not entirely dependent on students' motivation. Teachers' motivational support


plays a vital role in helping students to learn. I have attempted to involve pupils in classroom
activities and to enhance my teaching effectiveness. However, some pupils remain silent in
class and their involvement was not satisfactory. It may also due to low self -esteem and
lack of self-confidence to speak English because they are afraid of mistakes and the lack of
vocabulary affects the development of children’s learning. The lack of courage in them
causes them to remain silent and not engage in teaching and learning activities compared to
their active peers.

3. Kajian Lampau (Literature Review) Terhadap Isu (Pengalaman atau Kajian Lepas)

According to Davion Johnson (2017), Motivation increases students’ learning. Students’


learning is not entirely dependent on their own motivation. Teachers’ play a vital role in
increasing students’ learning through motivational support. Though motivation can be
intrinsic or extrinsic, it is important for teacher to create an environment that motivates
students’ learning. Motivation is conceptualized as an innate desire that drives individuals to
participate in an activity because of the satisfaction derived from it. As pupils are motivated
to learn, they are more likely to achieve the goals set for them, either by themselves or by
the teacher.

4. Cadangan dan Idea Penyelesaian Masalah

After analyzing the importance of motivation to pupils, I believe that I should take time to
know the pupils interest, strength and weaknesses to overcome pupils’ low self-esteem and
language barrier. I should provide them positive feedback to encourage them to speak in
English better. Positive comments encourage pupils to develop their confidence level and
they can recognize their capabilities, talents and the acquisition power.

better in a classroom.

Motivation of a teacher by providing positive feedbacks may enhance pupil’s self-confidence


to talk in English. Written or verbal praise, identifying fewer errors, recognizing pupils’
strengths, and focusing on what is positive about their work stimulating pupils to perform
well in classroom.

However, some pupils were reluctant on interacting during class and motivating pupils takes
time.
