CULTURE DIMENSIONS IN

Attention to detail

I consider in the company I work, Incarpalm, theres is a high degree of attention to

detail, for coordinators, immediate supervisors and managers are always offering
HIGH technical and security training for in the factory, there is total attention and care for
the process they are working in, with the machines and the handling of products
DEGREE such as raw materials. And in the financial department, they are required to carefully
review each payment order, so that payment terms are accomplished without
damaging the economic health of the company.

Outcome Orientation

I consider there is a high degree of outcome orientation, for managers are asking
each month for a report presentation of each department where they show their
performance of an specific period of time and are expected to achieve the key
HIGH performance indicators; for example in my department of purchases, managers are
requiring our team to place purchase orders to purchase requests in the shortest
DEGREE possible time with the best payment terms and optimal delivery times, even if they
have to change of supplier when they already set up a purchase. Also, in the
production department, they are expected to store the quantity of raw material that
is going to be used for production, according to sales forecasts, if there is an over-
stock, they are not performing according to the asked indicators.
People Orientation

There is a high degree of people orientation, for the company prioritize benefits for
their employees and their level of performance; for example, when they formulate
HIGH the contract for the employee, they offer an additional health insurance where there
is a lot of economic benefits when it comes to recipes or doctor visits, family
DEGREE benefits extension, etc. Besides, the company is looking to take care of their
employees and assure the work environment to keep the employee’s motivation,
offering security, transportation, feeding, recreational spaces, etc.

Team Orientation

There is a high degree of team orientation, at least in my department, for each

member accomplish certain activities and achieve objectives for the whole team,
which is represented by the immediate supervisor in the board of director; for
HIGH example, there are 4 people in the purchase department, where 2 works in the
process from beginning to end of the importation of paper reels, however they are
DEGREE always checking the other member’s work, who are in charge of the negotiations
with suppliers to import spare parts and placing local purchase orders, with all the
accountable process. It is a team oriented department, because when one takes
holidays, that person is in contact, for any question, and has its laptop for email
checking, etc., and for special occasions they are always sharing a snack or a break.

Aggressiveness

From what I have seen, in Incarpalm there is a low degree of aggressiveness, at least
in the departments that I am involved in, like purchases, production and purchases. It
LOW is more evident the teamwork, because results are expected from each department
and there is no competition between members. For example, in the purchase
DEGREE department, I have seen that the immediate supervisor is flexible when members are
taking time for a snack, a break, or a conversation, and also flexible when they take
an specific time for their studies, in the case of those with masters programs, and he
always is motivating them to keep developing professionally.

Stability

I do consider that Incarpalm has a high degree of stability because they are always
looking to maintain their status quo of social, environmental and professional
responsibility. For example, when I received my first labor induction in the company,
HIGH they talked to us about the different certifications they have achieved in the last
years, such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) accredited forest management
DEGREE certification, the Bureau Veritas certification, etc. Besides, they are always
emphasizing their social responsibility, for example, last week they were promoting
the importance of recognizing World Cancer Day and how they are working towards
including everyone no matter religion, way of thinking, social status, etc.
Innovation and Risk Taking

I consider the company to have a high degree of innovation and risk taking, for it is
evident that it started from something little to become a big and strong corporation
of around 7 businesses. I am so sure that it took a lot of risk and effort to start the
first, the second, the third and the others, and keep them working with different
HIGH warehouses and offices around the country. Their business units are Palmaplast,
Incarplam, Fumipalma, Icapar, Fertipalma, the agricultural division and the export
DEGREE division, all of them with a different mission, vision, organizational structure and
innovation. And for what I know, the board of directors is always looking to share
their passion to employees, so collaborations feel as part of the company and be
motivated and empowered to work in the different departments, suggesting and
taking decisions.
