Introductory Message

Welcome to TLE 10 – ICT (Illustration)!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts
of the Schools Division of Capiz and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western
Visayas through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division
(CLMD). This is developed to guide the learning facilitators (teachers,
parents and responsible adults) in helping the learners meet the standards
set by the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials

aimed to guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and
time using the contextualized resources in the community. This will also
assist the learners in acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and
attitudes for productivity and employment.

For learning facilitator:

The TLE 10 – ICT (Illustration) Activity Sheet will help you facilitate
the teaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning
Competency (MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you
and learner. This will be made available to the learners with the
references/links to ease the independent learning.

For the learner:

The TLE 10 – ICT (Illustration) Activity Sheet is developed to help

you continue learning even if you are not in school. This learning material
provides you with meaningful and engaging activities for independent
learning. Being an active learner, carefully read and understand the
instructions then perform the activities and answer the assessments. This
will be returned to your facilitator on the agreed schedule.

II. Background Information for Learners

When your client presents you with a scanned line-art drawing and asks
you to edit it, you may be tempted to open it in Adobe Photoshop and use
the software to emulate the artist's real-world tools. Many of the editing
tasks you undertake may require exactly this approach, but once you bring
the drawing into the digital realm, the software offers you options that the
traditional toolset can't provide. Take advantage of some of Photoshop's
strengths to add speed and power to your editing approach.

1.Open the scanned drawing in Adobe Photoshop. Open the "Image"

menu, locate its "Mode" submenu and choose "RGB" to change the color
mode of your file if it's currently set to Grayscale mode. RGB gives you a
wider range of Photoshop features to use while editing the artwork.

2.Open the "Window" menu and choose "Layers" to reveal the Layers
panel. Drag the "Background" layer onto the unlabeled New Layer button at
the bottom of the panel to create Layer 1, a duplicate of the original master
layer. Click on the eye icon in front of the listing for the original Background
layer in the Layers panel to turn off its visibility. Working on a copy of your
original artwork gives you a fallback option if you're later dissatisfied with
your edits.
3.Click on the duplicate layer's listing in the Layers panel to select it.
Click on the unlabeled Add Layer Mask button at the bottom of the panel.
Photoshop adds a pixel-based mask to your layer and automatically selects
the mask for editing.

4.Press "B" to switch to the Brush tool and "D" to set the foreground
and background colors to Photoshop's defaults of black and white. Zoom
in on image details you want to remove from your drawing and paint them
out on the layer mask. If you make a mistake, press "Ctrl-Z" to undo your
last action, or open the History panel and step back through your recent
edits.

5.Click on the unlabeled Add New Fill or Adjustment Layer button at

the bottom of the Layers panel and choose "Levels" from the list of
adjustment layer types. Select the unlabeled Set Black Point eyedropper
and click on a drawing detail that should be black but appears in gray
instead. Photoshop adjusts the image to darken the drawing and make it
more readily visible. Use the Set White Point eyedropper to click on areas
that should be the color of the drawing paper but show up in a light gray
from the way the scanner interpreted the original image.

6.Click on the unlabeled Add New Fill or Adjustment Layer button at

the bottom of the Layers panel and choose "Hue/Saturation" from the
list of adjustment layer types. Activate the "Colorize" check box so you can
tint your artwork. Change the hue setting to vary the color of the tint, and
set the saturation to make the color more or less vivid. Increase or reduce
lightness to make the overall effect lighter or darker. Click on the "OK"
button to apply the adjustment.
