I have attended the ONECONCIERTO PIYU of Far Eastern University’s Foundation
week this 2021. Although it is a bit sad because it is only online due to the current situation. Of
course, I did enjoy the event because of the bands that have performed. The event was also
engaging because there were games while the FB live was ongoing. Before the start and after
every performance there are Q and A portions about FEU. I did enjoy it because as a student of
the university I was familiar with it. Its just really sad though because most of the freshmen
students weren’t able to fully relate because they haven’t experienced studying inside the
campus. The Live concert was a success. But it was not that fully enjoyable because it’s just a
Facebook live but I can say that the hosts of the event were very engaging just like in the live
concert last year, despite the current situation we are facing.
The guests were and performers were fewer than expected and It was a bit disappointing
because I thought that The Juans will perform. I really expected them to perform. They were on
the FEU concierto poster but unfortunately, they did not perform. Many students were somehow
disappointed due to this incident but still the event was successful. Another thing is I totally did
miss cold breeze of the night after the event last year. I can say that the FEU’s event organizers
of the foundation week have done what they can and still gave their best due to the limited
resources and the what we call “new normal setup” I just hope that maybe next year’s foundation
week would be held in the campus. I really did miss the booths that were always organized
before events just like in the foundation week. It was really fun and engaging and I can say it
also really helped students to cope up with studies because of the enjoyable moments that they
can have with their friends.
This year’s foundation week is held online. It is limited due to the current situation but I
think it would be better if school responsibilities were toned down at that week, for students to
fully feel the presence of the event. Studying is very important but sometimes students need
breaks. For them to recuperate and cope up with the current situation. Because some students
were too stressed of the pandemic because some have experienced having a COVID-19 or their
families have been infected with it. It would be very helpful to them if the university will give
more consideration. To be honest I didn’t really feel the event that much maybe because it is
online. But I am hoping that the next foundation week would be held inside the campus. It will
be more enjoyable and engaging for students. I solely believe that not every student of the
university is equally privileged, maybe we should be more concerned about that especially at
times like this. Coping up and surviving at the same time is very hard. We must not be passive
about this.
