Time Management
As a college student I needed to learn on how to efficiently manage my time for studies,
personal life and other responsibilities. At my first year at FEU, I have been forced to act and be
responsible because there is no one that would take care of things I needed like food and clothes
back in high school. I also had a problem on waking up early and I was happy that I was able to
overcome this upon living in Manila for few weeks. I can proudly say that I was never late in my
classes. As a college student it is really hard to balance my time. Because sometimes I feel like
not working and doing things. I got used to eating earlier or late due to class schedules and
school responsibilities. I also experienced sleepless nights.
College is very hard because though you have a lot of free time, the work is not as easy
like in high school. Tasks and essentials for classes are much harder and demanding. It was very
time consuming and sometimes my “me time” was sacrificed. I sometimes forget to enjoy myself
because of the responsibilities I need to do. But then again after two semesters and a half I was
forced to go back to the province and study online due to the pandemic. This was actually hard
because responsibilities as a student, and a family member needs to be perfectly balanced. It was
very hard from the start but I just got used to it. But the problem now is I think I feel exhausted
and always tired. This online classes were very unhealthy for my physical well-being. I start day
with classes and end it with school requirements. I sometimes sleep doing my hobbies but that
was very rare due to the responsibilities I need to take care. In my opinion there is no effective
way of managing your time if you have school responsibilities that are time consuming. But I do
try to finish my school responsibilities first before doing household responsibilities because after
that I can finally sit in peace. But sometimes due to a very hectic schedule I use my breaks as a
room for the household responsibilities. Though I am really thankful that I don’t work and study
at the same time because that will be too draining for a college student, to maintain 2 huge
responsibilities at once.
I don’t believe in the idea of time management to make college life easier as of now,
because work keeps coming and it’s like time is insufficient to accomplish things that we
students need. But of course, I do believe that if you sacrifice your study time to rest it will
surely give you problems. Because ignoring school responsibilities for a day would cost a lot of
time to compensate. But sometimes I choose to do that because I feel too tired and restless most
of the time especially when examination week is near. I put my best effort in managing my time
but sometimes it is really hard to successfully accomplish all that is planned. College life was
never easy that’s all I can guarantee.
