INVESTITURE CEREMONY

(BOY SCOUT SECTION)


EQUIPMENT/PROPS NEEDED: Philippine Flag with staff and stand, Institutional Flag with staff and stand,
Troop Flag with staff and stand, Scout Badge (oversized, with three candle holders on top edge), One (1) big
size candle, Three (3) medium size candles, Twelve (12) small size candles, Rustic log with candle holders (1 big
size candle and 12 small size candles), table with white table cloth, tray for badges and registration
certificates/ cards, match or lighter to light candles, and enough chairs for participants in the program

Part II-THE INVESTITURE PROPER

Troop Leader (TL ): “Today we are about to witness a solemn and memorable ceremony in our boy’s life – The Investiture
Ceremony. In this ceremony ,the boy voluntarily impose upon himself before his parents ,his leaders, and before his
fellow scouts that he will do his best to do his duty to God and his country, to other people and to himself in the
fulfillment of the Scout Oath and Law.

In the Investiture Ceremony, weshall witness the transformation of our boys from an ordinary boy to a boy of a
character who is ready to render service at all times and in all circumstances. After committing himself to this solemn
oath, he shall thereafter be allowed to wear the Scout uniform and the Scout neckerchief, the symbols of service.”

CANDLE LIGHTING CEREMONY

Troop Leader (TL): Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), bring the candidates forward.
(SPL gives the command to Scouts to stand at attention with the candle participants taking their assigned places on
stage.)

“You have presented yourselves before this troop and into the brotherhood of Scouting. Before you is a big candle,
which represents the Spirit of Scouting. As you become Scouts you will learn more of the Scouting Spirit. The law of the
Troop is the Scout Law. It is known and followed by millions of scouts throughout the world. You will learn and follow
this law too. The Patrol Leader will now recite for you the parts of the law. Listen carefully and closely for I will soon ask
you whether you will accept this law as your own.”

(Senior Patrol Leader grasps the big candle, lights it declares)

Senior Patrol Leader (SPL): “This candle represents the Spirit of Scouting. He, who lights from this, brightens the world
and brings peace and happiness to those the light may reach.

(Places candle back to the candle holder)

TL: Some Scouts may now enlighten you about the other candles, their symbolism and what each represents.

(The assigned Scouts will take turns in lighting their candles from the big candle and recites the three points of the Scouts
Oath and the Twelve Points of the Scout Law.)

1ST Scout: This candle represents the first point of the Scout Oath.
“On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, the Republic of the
Philippines, and to obey the Scout Law.”
2nd Scout: This candle represents the second point of the Scout Oath.
“On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to help others people at all times.”
3rd Scout: This candle represents the third point of the Scout Oath.

“On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake
and morally straight.”
4th Scout: A Scout is TRUSTWORTHY. A Scout’s honor is to be trusted.
5th Scout: A Scout is LOYAL. He is loyal to all whom loyalty is due.
6th Scout: A Scout is HELPFUL. He is prepared to give help at all times.
7th Scout: A Scout is FRIENDLY. He is a friend to all and a brother to every Scout.
8th Scout: A Scout is COURTEOUS. He is polite to all and does not take pay for being helpful or courteous.
9th Scout: A Scout is KIND. He is a friend to all animals. He will not kill nor hurt any living creature needlessly, but
will strive to save and protect all harmless lives.
10th Scout: A Scout is OBEDIENT. He obeys his parents, Scout Leaders, Patrol Leaders and all other duly constituted
authorities.
11th Scout: A Scout is CHEERFUL. He smiles whenever he can. His obedience to order is prompt and cheery.
12th Scout: A Scout is THRIFTY. He does not wantonly destroy property. Works faithfully, wastes nothing, and makes
the best use of these opportunities.
13th Scout: A Scout is BRAVE. He has the courage to face danger in spite of fear and to stand up for what is right.
14th Scout: A Scout is CLEAN. He keeps clean his body and thoughts, stands for clean speech, clean sports, clean
habits, and travels with a clean crowd.
15th Scout: A Scout is REVERENT. He is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties and respects the
conviction of others in matters of custom and religion.
TL: You have heard the three points of the scout oath and the the Twelve Points of the scout law. Do you accept this
Oath and Law as your own and live by it?
Candidates: Yes we do!
SPL: Raise your right hand and execute the Scout sign and repeat after me.
(Scouts execute Scout sign and follow the SPL)

TL: Very well, it is the Spirit of the Scout Oath and Law that lights our steps. I now direct your attention to the flag of
our country. As Scouts we have special feelings about our flag, which is the symbol of our country. We know what it
means. We have learned how to respect and take care of it. We honor and love it next to our God. I now ask you to
execute the Scout sign, face the flag and recite in unison the “Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas”.

(Scouts execute Scout sign and recite the “Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas” in unison.)

may dangal, katarungan, at kalayaan, na ipinakikilos ng sambayanang , Maka Diyos,Maka tao,Makakalikasan at
Makabansa.
DONNING CEREMONY

TL: “Candidates please turn about and Parents, please stand behind your sons. You may now don the
neckerchief after which membership cards will be presented to your boys.”

(After donning of neckerchiefs, Boy Scouts accompany their parents or sponsors to their seats
and return to their respective seats.)

TL: As a commitment to your responsibilities as Boy Scouts, the SPL will lead you in reciting the Investiture Pledge.

(Scouts execute Scout sign and follow the SPL.)

THE SCOUT PLEDGE

I, (state your name) of TROOP no. of (state the name of your school), Cebu Council-Boy Scouts of
the Philippines, pledge to do my best to prepare for service to others. I further pledge to live up to the Scout
Oath and Law and the Motto of the Boy Scouts to the best of my knowledge and ability.

TL: Parents, let us hear your pledge of support for your boys.

PARENTS PLEDGE OF SUPPORT

I ( state your name) parent of (state the name of your son),pledges to do my best to extend full support to
the Scouting movement, to the leaders who are taking and guiding our sons in the right path to become men of
character and better citizens of our country.

TL: Congratulations to all of you. Thank you very much dear parents for supporting us in this movement.
