Narrative Report on
17th National Scout Jamboree
December 1 - 7, 2019
Camp Kainomayan, Botolan, Zambales
Theme: Saving Lives

I. Introduction:

A jamboree is a large gathering of Scouts who rally at a national or international

level. It is an event organized by Scouting for young people, where the Scout method and
principles and adherence to the Scout Promise and Law are practiced according to the
highest standards. It is a gathering of Scouts who wish to share the fellowship and
brotherhood of World Scouting and above all, to have fun!
The 17th National Scout Jamboree 2019 Program Framework highlights the major
theme of the event which gives focus to “Saving Lives”, this reflects how Scouting can help
address issues. challenges and realities at the Local, Regional, National, and Global
Communities – these mainly covers three (3) areas concerning People, Nature and the
Nation – where Scouts and young people should take positive actions and work together in
developing their Character, their Community, nurturing their Culture and to love their
Country. To Save Lives, the Jamboree offers quality and relevant educational programs that
are equitable for all segments of the society. To embrace and celebrate our diversity and
inclusion with much greater respect to human dignity.

II. Aims and Objectives:

The Jamboree aims to provide a progressive, safe, and enjoyable learning

environment for the Scouts in order to enhance their physical, social, mental, emotional and
spiritual potentials. At the end of the Jamboree, the participants should be able to:
a. Promote the highest quality of Scouting, one that is faithful to the mission, principles
and method of Scouting and adapted to the needs and aspirations of young people;
b. Undertake high-adventure activities, including community service projects related to
the current thrusts of World Scouting (Environment Education, Peace Education, and
Development Education) through the Messengers of Peace (MoP) Initiatives, World
Scout Environment Program (WSEP, including the solar Badge) and the Scouts of the
World Award (SWA);
c. Undergo projects, programs and activities that will cater to the fulfillment of the
requirements of selected merit badges and scout ranks under the Advancement
Scheme;
d. Develop core life skills and 21st century leadership capabilities through team building,
cooperative learning, group dynamics, creative problem-solving and decision-making
skills;
e. Keep oneself abreast with the prevailing issues about the environment, human
rights, health, education, culture and science and technology through the Global
Development Village, City of Science and Cross Roads of Cultures.
