White - Cut (4) 1-1/2” strips x WOF
from each strip cut (1) 1-1/2” x 11-1/2” rectangle (borders) - a total of (4)
from the remaining lengths cut (4) 1-1/2” x 5-1/2” rectangles (sashing)
trim the remaining strip to 1-1/2” - sub-cut into (16) 1-1/2” squares

1. Collect the (16) medium pink 1-1/2” squares and
(20) dark pink 1-1/2” squares

3. Join blocks in horizontal rows. Then, join rows to make 9-patch blocks.
Make 4 matching blocks.
Heart Tops
1. Collect the (4) medium pink 2-1/2” x 3-1/2” rectangles,
(4) dark pink 2-1/2” x 3-1/2” rectangles and
(16) white 1-1/2” squares
3. Place a white square RST with each medium and dark pink rectangle. Note position
in the diagram. Stitch the diagonal line. Next, place a second square on an adjacent
corner as shown below. Stitch on the diagonal line. Set seams and press both
triangles toward the outer edge of the rectangle. Trim excess underneath triangle
leaving approximately 1/4” seam allowance. Make (4) with medium pink and (4) with
dark pink rectangles.
Corner Units
1. Collect the (4) light pink 1-1/2” squares
(4) white 1-1/2” squares and
(4) white 1-1/2” x 2-1/2” rectangles
Make 4.
1. Arrange the (4) Heart Blocks with the (4) white 1-1/2” x 5-1/2” sashing rectangles
and the (1) 1-1/2” light pink square (note: the light gray squares below represent the
heart blocks
2. Create (3) rows. Press seam allowances in rows 1 and 3 toward the sashing. Press
seam allowances in row 2 toward the 1-1/2” square.
4. Join a 1-1/2” x 11-1/2” border rectangle to the left and right side of the quilt center.
5. Working with the remaining two border rectangles and the (4) light pink 1-1/2”
squares. Stitch a 1-1/2” square to the short end of each rectangle. Press seams
toward the border strip. Join these to the top and bottom of the quilt center.
6. Layer the quilt top with batting and backing. Quilt as desired. Apply binding.
