Course Objective:
 The Students shall be able to focus on partitions, paneling, false ceiling and flooring.
 The Students shall be able to study the systematic design & draw all constructional details of different types of partitions.
 The Students shall be able to study the construction details of false ceiling & flooring.
 The Students shall be able to demonstrate with the help of models based on market survey.
Prerequisites:
 Knowledge of basic elements of building , wood and wood products ,different materials used in construction and vertical transportation
Course Contents/Syllabus: Weightage(%)
Module I:Materials
Wood, plastics, laminates, plaster of Paris ( P.O.P), fabrics, tiles etc .related to flooring, partitions and 10%
false ceiling

Module II:) Partition & Paneling 20%


 Different details and fixing of partitions and paneling. Paneling – Using wooden planks, laminated
plywood, cork sheets, fiber glass wool &fabric for sound insulation and wall paneling for thermal
insulation.

 Details of fixed, sliding and sliding and folding partitions with wood, steel and aluminum frames &
panelsin glass, particle board, MDF, gypsum board and plywood
Module IIIFalse Ceiling
 Introduction to false ceiling. Construction of various kinds of false ceiling such as thermocol, plaster of
paris, gypsum board, metal sheets, glass and wood. Construction of domes, vaults, & other special
ceilings. Construction drawing of False ceiling Layout and its detailing. 20%

 Types and details of suspended ceiling

Module IVFloors
 Introduction to different types of floorings in interiors
 Construction of floors with floor coverings, floor finishes and detailing. 30%
 Construction drawing and detailing w.r.t different floor types.

Module V Industry Survey and Case Study (PSDA)

 Detailed study and analysis of construction interior sites & material manufacturing units
 Critically analyzing the case study w.r.t to design aspects, for basic space requirements and planning,
materials understanding and existing industry trends and demands. 20%
 Survey of the retail interiors industry & stakeholders to understand the application and implementation
of interior site specifically to materials and construction technique in review
 Preparing a conclusive report and presentation of merits & demerits learnt from case study and industry
survey

Course Learning Outcomes:


 The course will give the students the knowledge to demonstrate concept development, and problem solving skills for advanced and complex
design projects.
 The course will give the students the knowledge to apply the theories of 2&3 dimensional working design, and spatial definition and organization.
 The course will give the students the knowledge to analyze design techniques - Materials & Design details used.
 The course will give the students the knowledge to design and deliver the project using appropriate software skills
Pedagogy for Course Delivery:
The class will be taught using theory and case based method. In addition to assigning the case studies, the course instructor will spend considerable
time in understanding the concept of innovation through the eyes of the consumer. The instructor will cover the ways to think innovatively liberally
using thinking techniques.
