Course Objective:
To initiate students into theory and practice of HVAC, Fire Fighting Systems and Communication Systems

Course Contents / Syllabus: Weightage (%)
Module I: Introduction to HVAC 25
Human comfort conditions ,Ventilation(Natural and Mechanical) ,Air conditioning principles, systems and methods. Types
and layout of the centrally air- conditioned buildings. HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Conditioning) – Meaning and
application of single, split, cassette units and central distribution systems
Module II: Understanding Fire Fighting layouts 25
Fire-fighting ,Fire resistant rating, Fire resistant materials, Fire protection equipment’s and alarm system and NBC
standards for fire-fighting .Security –CCTV etc

Module III - Developing and Presenting HVAC concepts 25


Understanding the interior thermal comfort, heat gain and loss, u-values for wall and roofs. Environmental factors (Air
temperature, Radiant temperature, air velocity and humidity.)Personal factors ( Clothing insulation, Metabolic heat)
Module IV Communication Systems 25
Lifts, escalators and conveyors, inter-communication, monitoring devices, Lift location, systems, sizes and spatial requirement.
Student Learning Outcomes:
• The course will impart the knowledge to the student to be able to understand the properties of sound, its role in designing
auditorium, conference rooms, and seminar halls. Constructional measures for sound insulation of building. Ventilation,
natural and artificial, mechanical ventilation-Various systems of air conditioning.

Pedagogy for Course Delivery:


The class will be taught through live online and classroom mode. In addition to assigning the case studies, the course instructor will utilize the positive
aspects of technology and provide a quality educational learning experience.
