About the Seminar:
Over the past few decades, there has been an increased in
migration. For example, the United Nations International
Migration Report (UNIMR) (2019) states that between
1990 and 2019, the number of international migrants
worldwide increased by around 119 million. In addition,
the World Health Organization estimates that there are
258 million international migrants and 763 internal
migrants worldwide. This migration is driven by a number
of factors, including pull factors (e.g., work, education,
employment and livelihood) and push factors (e.g.,
drought, flood, political instability, poverty, and violent
conflicts), as well as combinations of both. Of these,
environmental factors, particularly climate change and
natural disasters, are an important global driving force
for migration flows to created by long-term, as well as
sudden and unpredictable weather events such as heavy
rainfall, mass flooding, longer wildfire seasons, and
stronger, more frequent hurricanes, etc. In other words,
migration is the most direct adaptation strategy to climate
change, as climate change proceeds with tremendous
changes in local living conditions. Because, these events
are cause not only property damage and loss of human
lives, but also the rapid displacement of survivors. The
impact of migration is heavy on agriculture. Against this
background the National Seminar on Climate Change,
Rural Migration and Agricultural Productivity assumes
importance. The attendees include leaders in the field, as
well as emerging scholars, who travel to the conference
from all corners of the country and represent a broad
range of disciplines and perspectives. A variety of
presentation options and session types offer opportunities
for attendees to share their work, discuss key issues in the
field, and build relationships with attendees.
About the College:
Kamaraj College has long been recognized as a premier

districts of Tamilnadu. The College is committed to

About the Department: The Department of Economics
was established in 1968 with B.A. Economics and it was
upgraded as PG Department in 1986. From its inception
the medium of instruction for B.A. Economics is Tamil
and the students studying in Tamil medium are provided
with Tamil Nadu Government Stipend. In the year 2016,
B.A. Economics was started in the self-financed stream.
The Department of Economics was elevated into a full-
fledged research department in the year 2014 with part-
time and full-time research scholars.

The Conference Organizing Committee takes pleasure in
inviting our esteemed members from the academic
fraternity to participate in the deliberations by submitting
research papers. The contributions seeking to expand the
frontiers of knowledge surrounding the theme – Climate
Change, Rural Migration and Agriculture Productivity
are most desirous.
Who Can Participate?
Faculty Members and Academicians, Management
Practitioners, Consultants, Entrepreneurs, Ph.D. Scholars
and Students are invited to submit their abstracts/full
papers before the said date.
Themes & Sub-themes
Manuscripts that seek to focus on themes and sub-themes
given below are most welcome. Please note that these are
only representative. Contributions on related studies
within the realms of Economics, Finance, Development
Studies & related areas are greatly solicited.

Full Paper Submission:
Full paper should be less than 6,000 words. It may have
an abstract, 5 key words, introduction, literature review,
study objectives and methodology, analysis & discussion,
conclusion and scope for further study followed by
references. The format is only indicative and author may

By Air :
The Tuticorin Airport is at Vagaikulam, 14 km (9 mile)
from the Kamaraj College.
By Rail
Thoothukudi Railway station comes under Southern
Railway Division, connected with Chennai, Mysore,
Coimbatore.
By Road
The major roads within the city are NH 7A connecting
Madurai road. NH 45B connecting Ramanathapuram road
or East Coast Road.
Near by Tourist Places:
Ettayapuram
Ettayapuram is the birth place of the revolutionary poet
Subramaniya Bharathiyar and is located 35 kms from
Thoothukkdi. His home now became a monument.
Umarupulavar Dhansha is also located here.
Thiruchendur
Thiruchendur is one of the major pilgrim centres of South
India. This Temple is situated at a distance of 40 kms from
Thoothukkudi. The sea-shore temple is dedicated to Lord
Muruga, is one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga.
(Arupadi Veedu).The nine storied tier temple tower of
height 157 feet belongs 17th century AD. Visiting Valli
Cave, taking sea-bath, and bathing in Nazhikkinaru are
treated as holy one. It is well connected by bus service to
all over Tamilnadu and train services.
Panchalankurichi
Panchalankurichi is a small historic village located 25km
from Thoothukudi. From here the Great warrior
Kattabomman popularly known as “Veerapandiya
Kattabomman” raised his voice against the British regime
in the 17th century AD.
Adichanallur
Adichanallur is 20 km from Tirunelveli on the way to
Tiruchendur. From an Archaeological point of view, this
place has a glorious past and it is located on the banks of
river Tamirabarani. It is assumed that, in ancient times a
civilized habitation flourished here.
Korkai
Korkai ancient port city of Pandian dynasty in the Sagam
period is located on the main road from Tiruchendur to
thoothukudi . It is 29km from Tiruchendur . The Tank of
Korkai is said to be korkai kulam with a extent 250 acres.
Kulasekaranpattinam
Kulasekaranpattinam is situated on the way to
Kanniyakumari from Tiruchendur. It is 20 kms from
Tiruchendur and 65 kms from Kanyakumari. This village
is famous for Mutharaman Temple, which is located on
the shore of Bay of Bengal. This temple is nearly 150
years old. The Dhasara Festival is celebrated in a grand
scale every year during October.
Kayalpattinam
Kayalpattinam was a famous port next to Korkai in the
12th and 13th Centuries, situated 30 kms from
Thoothukudi and 18 kms fromTiruchendur between
Thoothukudi and Tiruchendur highway. It has a fine beach
on Bay of Bengal.
Manapad
Manapadu is a Coastal village situated at 70 kms from
Tirunelveli and 18 kms from south of Tiruchendur. This
place was visited by St. Francis Xavier in 1542. The Holy
Cross church built on a cliff attracts thousands of pilgrims
throughout the year and during the month of festival (1st
September to 14th September) thousand numbers of
tourists assembles here.
Panimaya Matha Church
Thoothukudi is traditionally known for pearl fishing and
shipping activities, production of salt and other related
business. This is a port city in the southern region of
Tamilnadu. This is a natural port, from this place freedom
fighter V.O.Chidambaranar operated the Swadeshi
shipping company during the British rule. Now
Thoothukudi is a bustling town with business activities.
Panimaya Matha Church (Shrine Basilia of Our Lady of
Snow) is a famous church built by the Portugese in 1711.
