BRIEF NOTE

NAME OF WORK ;- Construction of 10 MLD Raw Water pumping Station at


Amthane for Dhumacem water treatment plant and industrial
estate at Latambarcem in Bicholim Taluka and Improvement
to Amthane Dam and Lift irrigation scheme Amthane, in
Bicholim Tal.

1. Background
 Minor Irrigation Dam at Amthane in Bicholim Taluka was constructed
in the year 1988 which is having storage capacity of 585 Ha. M. to
irrigate 160 ha of command area. The dam storage was for supply 15
MLD of raw water to drinking water treatment plant at Assonora which
is now presently increased to 110MLD.
 Although the dam is in the village of Amthane the villages of Sal,
Dhumacem , Mencurem and surrounding areas, not receiving sufficient
water for drinking and there is always a scarcity. Now in the said area
Latembarcem industrial estate is coming which will be housing major
industries the demand of water will increase further.
 Chief Engineer PWD has requested for 10 MLD water at Dhumashem
wherein they will be installing treatment plant and supply and 2 MLD
IDC have requested to make 2 MLD Raw water available at
Latambarcem .
 The head regulator of the Amthane Dam , Dam top road and other
components have become old and needs urgent repairs.

2. Proposal ;-
To address the raw water demand of the present & future and to
improve the existing infrastructure of DAM, Lift irrigation Scheme , it
is proposed to

 Construct 10 MLD Raw Water Supply Scheme to proposed drinking


water treatment plant at Amthane –Dhumacem.
 To supply 2 MLD Raw Water to Latambarcem Industrial Estate in
Bicholim Taluka.
 Proposed to improve the head regulator & development of dam top
and d/s side of Amtahne dam .
 To construct Chowkidar chowki at Amthane.
 To improve the existing lift irrigation scheme at Amthane , which was
constructed in the 1992 to provide water for irrigation.
