6 WORK, POWER, ENERGY

Question 1:
What is Work?
Answer:

“WORK”
Definition:
Work is said to be done if a force displaces a body in its own direction.

Mathematically:
The dot product of force and displacement is known as Work.
~ W=F d OR ~ W=F d cosθ

7 PROPERTY OF
MATTER

Question 1:
Discuss Kinetic Molecular theory of matter.
Answer:
“KINETIC MOLECULAR THEORY”
Definition:

Kinetic molecular theory of matter states that “matter is made up of constantly moving. All moving particales have energy
temperature and forces in between the particales. The intermolecular forces in b/w the particales determines whether the
substance exists Solids, Liquid, and Gaseous state.

“SOLIDS”
~ Solids are made up of molecules which arranged closely in a fixed pattern.
~ Solids molecules vibrate about their mean positions.
~ Solids have strong intermolecular forces due to which. They have fix shape and volume.
~ Solids do not flow and can’t be compressed easily.

“LIQUIDS”
~ Liquids are made up of particles away than solids molecules and comparatively closer than gaseous.
~ Liquids have weak intermolecular forces.
~ The pattern of molecules is not fixed i.e. the molecules in a pattern keep changing their positions.
~ Liquid don’t have specific shape it attain the shape of the container.
~ Liquid has fixed volume.

“GAS”
~ It is the thired state of matter.
~ It is made up of molecules which are in constances b/w the molecules is comparatively larger than
the size of molecules.
~ The molecules are constantly colliding with of the container.
~ It don’t have fixed shape and volume.
~ It has negligible intermolecular forces except during collision.

Question 2:
Discuss plasma state of matter.
Answer:

“PLASMA”

Definition:

It is superheated matter so that the electrons are ripped away from the atoms forming an ionized gas.
Plasma is often called as the fourth state of matter. When much energy is added to the gaseous form
of a matter plasma state is formed. [I.e. a soup of positively charged electrons].
It mostly exist in the sun’s core where fusion reactions takes and a huge amount of energy is always present.

Question 3:
What is density?

Class 8th KPK BOARD 3

Answer:

“DENSITY”
Definition:

“Mass per unit volume is called density.”

Symbol:

Density is represented by the symbol δ (rho).

Mathematically:

mass
Density=
volume
m
δ=
v

Nature:

It is a scalar quantity.
Unit:

kg
Its unit is 3
m
OR
-3
Kg m

Explanation:

Density of a body depends on the mass and volume of the body.

~ The density of a body increase by increasing mass and decreases by decreasing the mass.
~ The density of a body increases by decreasing the volume and vice versa.
