What would be the readings of the ammeter and the voltmeter when key is closed ?
Short Answer Type Questions (1 Internal Choice) [3 × 2 = 6 Marks]
10. A spherical mirror produces an image of magnification –1 on a screen placed at a distance of 50
cm from the mirror.
(a) Write the type of mirror.
(b) Find the distance of the image from the object.
(c) What is the focal length of the mirror?
11. Calculate the total cost of running the following electrical devices in the month of September, if
the rate of 1 unit of electricity is Rs. 6.00.
(i) Electric heater of 1000W for 5 hours daily.
(ii) Electric refrigerator of 400W for 10 hours daily.
OR
What is electrical resistance? Derive the expression of equivalent resistance for the series
combination of resistances.
Long Answer Questions [1× 5 = 5 Marks]
12. (a) State ‘Fleming’s left Hand Rule”
(b) Draw magnetic lines of force due to circular current carrying loop.
(c) Define 1 kilowatt hour.
(d) Should the resistance of a voltmeter be low or high? Give reason.
(e) State Joule's law of heating. Write its mathematical form.
So she decided to make a refracting telescope. She bought two lenses, L1 and L2. out of which L1
was bigger and L2 was smaller. The larger lens gathers and bends the light, while the smaller lens
magnifies the image. Big, thick lenses are more powerful. So to see far away, she needed a big
powerful lens. Unfortunately, she realized that a big lens is very heavy. Heavy lenses are hard to
make and difficult to hold in the right place. Also since the light is passing through the lens, the
surface of the lens has to be extremely smooth. Any flaws in the lens will change the image. It
would be like looking through a dirty window.
(i) Based on the diagram shown, what kind of lenses would Sumati need to make the telescope?
(1) Concave lenses (2) Convex lenses (3) Bifocal lenses (4) Flat lenses
(ii) If the powers of the lenses L 1 and L2 are in the ratio of 4 :1 , what would be the ratio of
the focal length of L1 and L2?
(1) 4 : 1 (2) 1 : 4 (3) 2 : 1 (4) 1 : 1
(iii) What is the formula for magnification obtained with a lens? What is its unit ?
OR
Sumati did some preliminary experiment with the lenses and found out that the
magnification of the eyepiece (L2) is 3. If in her experiment with L2 she found an image at 24 cm
from the lens, at what distance did she put the object?
From the following options select the correct sequence of these stages?
(1) (i), (ii),(iii),(iv) (2) (iv),(iii), (i), (ii) (3) (ii),(iv),(i),(iii) (4) (iii),(i), (iv),(ii)
31. Law of independent assortment can be explained with the help of:
(1) Dihybrid cross (2) Back cross (3) Monohybrid cross (4) Test cross
32. The movement of energy from lower to higher trophic level is-
(1) Always unidirectional (2) Always directional
(3) Sometimes unidirectional (4) Undeterminable
[Assertion & Reason ]
33. Assertion : Pancreas is a heterocrine gland.
Reason : : Endocrine part secretes insulin and g1ucagon and exocrine part secretes an pancreatic
juice containing enzymes.
(1) Assertion and reason both are correct statement and reason is correct explanation for assertion.
(2) Assertion and reason both are correct statement and reason is not correct explanation for
assertion.
(3) Assertion is correct statement but reason is wrong statement.
(4) Assertion is wrong statement but reason is correct statement.

[Cased Based Questions [1 + 1 + 2 = 4 Marks]
39. The male accessory ducts (vasa efferentia, epididymis, vas deferens, and rete testis) serve to
store spermatozoa and transport them outside the urethra during ejaculation. Male accessory
glands are seminal vesicles, prostate glands, and bulbourethral glands which contribute seminal
plasma to semen. Seminal vesicle secretion accounts for 60% of seminal plasma and adds alkaline
pH (to counteract acidic pH of the vagina), fructose (a nutrient), mucus, and coagulating and
local acting enzymes. Prostate gland secretions account for 30% of the plasma and add citrate (a
nutrient for sperm mitochondria), calcium, and a proteolytic enzyme termed as the prostate-specific
antigen (to liquify ejaculate just before the release). Secretion from the Cowper gland adds only
a small volume.
I. Semen is
(1) A mixture of sperms and seminal plasma
(2) A mixture of ova and seminal plasma
(3) A mixutre of sperm and ovaa
(4) Either (1) or (2)
II. Which gland increases the motility of sperms ?
(1) Seminal vesicle (2) Prostate gland (3) Cowper's gland (4) None of the above
III. The major components of seminal vesicle secretions are:
(i) Seminal plasma (ii) Fructose (iii) Mucus
(1) (i) & (ii) only (2) (ii) & (iii) (3) (i) & (iii) only (4) (i), (ii) & (iii)
OR
