- At present, the global population has both the largest

proportion of young people (under 24) and the largest
percentage of elderly people in history.
- Life expectancy has increased by approximately 20 years since
1960.
- Ageing populations are another element to the multi-faceted
implications of demographic population change, and pose
challenges of their own
