Compare and contrast the situation during Rizal’s time and the situation of our
country today.
During Rizal’s time, there are students who study abroad like Rizal for their
careers and became so beneficial to the country, the same as today where most
workers chose to study or work in another country and became so beneficial for the
economy of the Philippines. During Rizal’s time, there was already unjust judgment
and punishment to anyone who fought against the government and the Church
without due process. We can observe the same way today wherein most police and
government officials can not be trusted because of unjust treatments and
punishments.
During Rizal’s time, there were no Filipino officials in the higher government
positions while in present times, all government officials must be considered
Filipino before entering politics. This is a good thing of running our own country
and not depending on the leadership of the foreign. Also, during Rizal’s time, the
Church and the State were in joint hands while in the present situation of the
Philippines it is not. The church and state must be separated considering honor,
beliefs and legality of anything in the Philippines.
