During the 19th century explain the implications of each of the following to the
Filipino people.
❖ Socio-economic
The socio-economic implication of the Spanish invasion to the
Filipino people is far from the expectation of the Filipinos as they thought
Spanish are modest, kind and good as they introduce Catholicism and teach
God. Social discrimination spread against Filipinos who are poor and
uneducated and more privileges to the authorities and wealthy people. On the
other hand, economic implications may be defined as a selfish and unjust
motive of the Spaniards in terms of the crops and agriculture sector in our
own land.
❖ Political
The political implication is not that effective because the Visitador
who ought to report every corruption and unjust happenings in a colony was
accepting bribes from the Governor General so that he can make his mouth
shut and only say the good things. The king was not aware that these
Governor Generals were abusing their power and authority along with their
government officials.
❖ Spiritual
Spiritual implication is what I am amazed of. Even though Catholic
priests are so evil to the point of killings and violence, Filipino people did
not give up their faith to the Almighty. Just like Dr. Rizal, he is still
cherishing and believing in the promises of God being taught by the
Hypocrite catholica priest from his childhood.
❖ educational
During the Spanish era, there is a lot of discrimination in the
educational system ran by the priest. Illustrados are privileged to study and
enter prestigious universities while others are not because they are not
wealthy. Also, most women are not allowed to study at school.
