There are many different kinds of written communications that have been discovered in the
academic realm. The majority of the work that has been documented has proven to be helpful to a
variety of people as they try to broaden their knowledge on a variety of topics that affect their lives
and the environment that they live in. It is important to give acknowledgment to the authors of the
works from which you have drawn ideas and words, and referencing is one way to do this. When you
reference the work of a specific researcher and acknowledge and respect the intellectual property
rights of that researcher, you are citing that researcher's work. According to Pecorari (2006), a
citation is a type of rhetorical device that involves making a reference to something external to the
text that is doing the citing.

When writing anything, but especially when writing about science, accuracy is of the utmost
importance. The very act of looking up a reference in order to verify something serves as a check for
accuracy. This can be done for a number of reasons, such as to verify the accuracy of a direct quote,
to make sure that a passage that you paraphrased is accurate, or to cite another study that is related
to your study Sankaran (2016). Typically, the majority of students would "copy and paste" directly
from source articles with minor adjustments. This method nonetheless results in unintended
plagiarism for students who seek to avoid it. According to Penders (2018 citation practices generate
value by linking together relevant scientific contributions, regardless of their size. In doing so, they
grant or deny credit, contributing to the relative standing of published works in the field of study. In
contrast, citation practices operate within the context of current scientific evaluation systems. The
most important skill a student can engage in is "the complex activity to write from other texts",
which is "a major part of their academic experience." (Spack, 1988).
