(1) 15 points If a person is already a member of ASCE, why would they join the geo institute within
ASCE? What is the benefit of these institutes AND how is their role different than ASCE in

(2) 15 points If a site is to be developed and a tall building built on the site, why does a geotechnical
investigation need to be done BEFORE any detailed designs are generated? {hint read and watch

(3) (25 points longer answer ( ~1/3 page)) Search the web and find an interesting LARGE SCALE
construction project. Include a picture of that project and bring picture to class as well as
turning in. Describe the project ion detail, what? Why? And how long is the project supposed to
take and how much is it expected to cost. Include the citation to the website.

(4) 15 points For the project you identified in #3. Explain the role of the construction engineering
project manager (include the roles of planning, scheduling, and safety). (approx. ¼ page
