STOLT C: ANIMAL AND VEGETABLE OIL REMOVER

DESCRIPTION:
It is a mildly alkaline detergent containing a combination of 13% nonionic/anionic surfactant,
5% inorganic booster, 4% Butylcellosolve, with a water balance.
This blend exhibits a pH of 9 and is, therefore, safe to use in zinc as well as other coated tank
surfaces.

USES:
The product has been especially formulated for the cleaning of animal and vegetable oils.
Stolt C is also the basic ingredient of Stolt LAC.
Blending 1 part of 50% Caustic Soda with 5 parts of Stolt C will result in a very strong alkaline
liquid.
This blending is ideal for the cleaning of dried-in oils and fats, but is not suitable for use in zinc
coated tanks.

APPLICATION METHODS;
Stolt C can be SPRAYED ON to areas where residue remains after the primary tank washing.
Stolt C should be allowed to stand for at least 30 minutes before rewashing (ambient/warm/hot).
The length of rinsing may vary with the specific lining and the time the detergent is left on.
If the detergent is still present at the end of washing (check at end of discharge line) the rinsing

STOLT D: PHOSPHORIC ACID METAL CLEANER

DESCRIPTION:
Stolt D is a 70% concentration of Phosphoric Acid with 2% Butylcellosolve, and a balance of water.

USES:
This metal brightener is much stronger than any other on the market today and, therefore, must always be
blended out.
Do not use this product undiluted.
The product is basically formulated for the upgrading of mild steel cargo tank surfaces as well as removal
of rust stains from painted surfaces.

APPLICATION METHODS:

A Stolt D mixture, 1 part of Stolt D INTO 10 parts of fresh water, can be SPRAYED ON for removal of
rust stains from painted surfaces. For smaller areas hand hosing fresh water is sufficient but excessive
application needs first machine rinsing.

A Stolt D mixture, about    2 volume % of Stolt D INTO fresh water, can be RECIRCULATED through
tank washing machines to remove black carbon deposits found on mild steel.
The mild steel tank must be free from previous cargo.
A normal upgrading will require about 2 hours recirculating followed by fresh water rinsing (ambient)
through the tank washing machines.
A filter system should be installed to prevent blocking of tank washing machines.

A Stolt D mixture, 2-5 volume % of Stolt D INTO fresh water, heated (50-70 deg.C), can be
RECIRCULATED through tank washing machines for removal of traces from acid oil in stainless steel
tanks.
The mixture can be heated by applying steam on heating coils.
Immediately after transfering the acid solution, the tank should be rinsed with hot water through the tank
washing machines.
(Cargo lines may need additional cleaning).

REMARKS:
Failure or success varies with pressure, temperature and freely rotating machines at the right drops.

COATING:
Do not use on zinc coatings. The acid mixture might soften the coatings

DO NOT ADD WATER TO ACID !    ADD ACID TO WATER !

USE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND GOGGLES WHEN MIXING OR APPLYING.

SHOULD STOLT D COME IN CONTACT WITH EYES, SKIN, OR CLOTHING, FLUSH ALL
SURFACES WITH PLENTY OF WATER.
FOR EYES, FLUSH WATER AND RINSE WITH STANDARD EYEWASH.

STOLT E: LIQUID CAUSTIC SODA 50%

DESCRIPTION:
Stolt E is intended for mixing with Stolt C to produce Stolt LAC.

USES:
To blend a very strong LAC solution; add 1 part of Stolt E to 5 parts of Stolt C
(add Stolt E to Stolt C - not detergent to caustic sol.) .
If so desired, a less concentration of Stolt E can be used to blend a weaker solution.
Do not exceed mixing 1 part of Stolt E into 5 parts of Stolt C.
The above blend of Stolt LAC is suited for use on drying oils that have baked onto tank surfaces.
The LAC is also suited for animal and vegetable, fish oils, tall oil, tung oil, etc.

APPLICATION METHODS :
Stolt LAC can be SPRAYED ON and allowed to stand for at least 30 minutes (maximum 1 hour) before
rewashing.
The length of rinsing may vary with the specific lining and the time the LAC is left on.
If detergent is still present at the end of washing (check at end of the discharge line) the rinsing should be
extended.
Avoid spraying LAC on warm bulkhead.

Stolt LAC can be RECIRCULATED through tank washing machines.

After tanks have been rough washed a blend consisting of 5 volume % Stolt E, 1% Stolt C and 94% fresh
water can be heated
(40-50 deg C) and recirculated.
The circulation should last for 1-3 machine cycles at each drop.
On completion of recirculation the tank must be rinsed with ambient/warm water for 3 machine cycles at
each drop.
If detergent is still present at the end of washing (check at end of discharge line) the rinsing should be
extended.

REMARKS:
Failure or success varies with; pressure, temperature and freely rotating machines at the right drops.

COATING:
DO NOT USE in zinc coatings.
Safe for use in epoxy and phenolics but concentrated LAC should not stand for more than 30 minutes.

CAUTION :
THIS IS A STRONG CAUSTIC SOLUTION AND MUST BE CAREFULLY HANDLED.
USE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND GOGGLES WHEN MIXING.
WHEN SPRAYING IN TANKS ALSO USE PROPER HOOD/FACE PROTECTION.
SHOULD CAUSTIC SOLUTION COME IN CONTACT WITH EYES, SKIN OR CLOTHING,
FLUSH ALL SURFACES WITH PLENTY OF WATER.

CLEANING - USING STOLT X

STOLT X is especially formulated to neuralize and deodorize Acrylic Monomers.

One liter of STOLT X will neutralize one liter of acrylate.

PROCEDURE.

1. Add approximately 3000 liters of warm (NOT HOT) freshwater to the tank.

2. Add enough STOLT X to neutralize the estimated Acrylic residue left in the tank.
3: Circulate through cleaning machine(s) for 3 to 4 hours
The same water may be used for other Acrylate tanks but new neutralizer must be
added for each tank.

ALWAYS ADD NEUTRALIZER TO THE WATER - NOT WATER TO THE NEUTRALIZER

After neutralizing, the tank must be cleaned as normal.

RANDH ACRYLATES SLOY 45

PLEASE ADVISE WHAT HAS BEEN AGREED WITH RANDH WITH REGARD TO THE
CLASSIFICATION OF ETHYL ACRYLATE TO MARPOL CATEGORY "A".
THE COPY OF THE COA MER HAS APPEARS HOT TO BE COMPLETE AND PREVIOUS COA'S
DO NOT CONTAIN A FULL "STOLT MARPOL CLS".

THE REASON FOR MY ASKING IS THAT ON THE SSINC 48 THE PREWASH AT MELB
USING STOLT "X" WAS A FAILURE AS THE STOLT "X" DID NOT NEUTRALISE
THE E.A'. AT ALL AND SUBSEQUENTLY RANDH HAD TO RE NEUTRALISE THE
WASHINGS IN THE SHORE TERMINAL WITH MEA (MONOETHANOLAMINE).
DUE TO THE PARTICULARLY OBNOXIOUS ODOUR OF THIS PRODUCT OBVIOUSLY THE
LESS
THE WASHINGS ARE HANDLED ThE BETTER.
RANDH AAUST ARE ASKING THAT WE ARRANGE AND PAY FOR MEA FOR PREWASHING ??

PVA - PLS COMMENT ON FOLLOWING PROPOSED PREWASH PROCEDURE FOR E. A.

TANK DISCH FULLY AS PER NORMAL THEN

1/ ADD 3,500 L OF WATER TO A ADJACENT TANK

2/ ADD 400 KG OF MEA
3/ ADD 100 LITRES OF STOLT "X" (AS AN EMULSIFIER)
4/ TRANSFER SOLN TO EA TANK.
5/ RECIRC FOR 4-6HRS THEN PUMP ASHORE.

THIS PROCESS WAS ACTUALLY DONE ASHORE AFTER SSINC LEFT AND THE
RESULTS SHOWED A LESS THAN 0.1% EA CONTENT AND A SWEET ALCOHOL
SMELL. THESE RESULTS ARE ACCEPTABLE TO THE GOVERNMENT SURVEYORS.

APPRECIATE YR    COMMENTS ASAP
