A. Maintenance R.O.N Cockpit Checklist {NG-737-05-3-0002}

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS IN A SAFE CONDITION BEFORE


YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. THIS IS TO PREVENT
INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

1) Flight Compartment

NOTE: Verify CBs closed or collared as required.

Provide external power to the aircraft and accomplish the following.

a) Annunciator Lights

(i) Perform light test using master DIM and TEST switch and verify proper
annunciator light operation.

(ii) Move IRS selector from OFF through ALIGN to NAV.

(iii) Verify that the ON DC lights momentarily illuminate during SELF-TEST.

(iv) Verify white IRS ALIGN lights illuminate after 10 seconds indicating start
of alignment

(v) Verify that after 10 minutes of successful alignment, the IRS automatically
enters NAV mode.

(vi) Push the Auto flight status annunciator test switch to the No. 1 position, all
3 annunciator lights illuminate amber. Push the test switch to the No. 2
position, the A/P and A/T annunciators come on red. The FMC annunciator
comes on amber.

b) Flight Recorder

(i) Move flight recorder test switch to TEST position. Verify OFF light extinguishes.
Return switch to NORMAL.

. c) Mach Airspeed and Stall Warning

(i) Press MACH AIRSPEED WARNING TEST and verify clacker sounds.

(ii) Press stall warning TEST buttons until control column shaker activation occurs.

NOTE: With HYD power off, leading edge flaps may droop, causing asymmetry
signal resulting in failure of stall warning system test. Should this occur,
pressurize B system to fully retract flaps. The stall-warning test requires
that the A/C transfer busses be powered 4 minutes prior to testing.

d) T/R OVHD Annunciators - not illuminated

. i) Navigation and Display Switches

(i) Verify all switches are in a normal (Off or Detent) position. In most cases
push button switches are selected if they are illuminated. Prior to turning
any system off or deselecting a system verify that maintenance is not using
the active system.

j) Flight Control Panel

(i) Switches capped - ALT FLAP switch lock-wired with copper.

(ii) STBY HYD, LOW QTY, LOW PRESS and STBY RUD ON lights out.

(iii) Yaw damper switch ON, annunciator lights out.

(iv) Verify FEEL DIFF PRESS, SPEED TRIM FAIL, MACH TRIM FAIL and AUTO SLAT
FAIL annunciators not illuminated.

. k) Fuel System

(i) Verify ENG VALVE CLOSED lights are on dim, spar valve closed lights on
dim, and fuel filter bypass lights are extinguished.

(ii) Verify cross feed selector is CLOSED and the VALVE OPEN light is
extinguished.

CAUTION: FOR GROUND OPERATION, CENTER FUEL TANK PUMP SWITCHES MUST
NOT BE POSITIONED TO "ON" UNLESS THE CENTER TANK FUEL
QUANTITY EXCEEDS 1,000 POUNDS, EXCEPT WHEN DEFUELING
OR TRANSFERRING FUEL.

CAUTION: CENTER TANK FUEL PUMP SWITCHES MUST BE POSITIONED TO "OFF"


WHEN BOTH CENTER TANK FUEL PUMP LOW PRESSURE LIGHTS
ILLUMINATE. CENTER TANK FUEL PUMPS MUST NOT BE "ON"
UNLESS PERSONNEL ARE AVAILABLE IN THE FLIGHT DECK TO
MONITOR LOW PRESSURE LIGHTS.

(iii) Verify pumps are ON for any tanks that contain fuel. Verify PUMP LOW
PRESS lights are extinguished.

(iv) Position fuel pump switches OFF. If the APU is to remain running, provide
positive fuel pressure by leaving one boost pump (No. 1 tank/ AFT) ON.

(i) Equipment Cooling Switches NORMAL

(ii) Verify OFF light is extinguished.

o) Window Heat

(i) Turn 4 window heat switches ON. Observe green lights on.

(ii) Turn 4 window heat switches OFF.

(i) Turn A and B switches to ON. Verify all probe heat lights extinguish.

(ii) Turn switches to AUTO. Verify all lights illuminate.

NOTE: Probe Heat steps are applicable to POST EA 3031-01004 aircraft.

q) Wing Anti Ice OFF

(i) Verify the L and R VALVE OPEN lights are extinguished.

. r) Hydraulics

WARNING: PRIOR TO ENGAGING ANY HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, VERIFY THE


CONTROL COMMANDED POSITION MATCHES THE ACTUAL SURFACE
POSITION. MEANING, ENSURE GEAR HANDLE IS IN THE DOWN
POSITION, FLAP POSITION LEVEL MATCHES ACTUAL FLAP POSITION,
AND SPOILER POSITION LEVER MATCHES THE ACTUAL SPOILER
POSITIONS.

WARNING: ENSURE THE AREAS AROUND FLIGHT CONTROLS AND WHEEL


WELL AREAS ARE CLEAR.

(i) Position system A and B electric pump switches to the ON position.

(ii) Verify electric pump LOW PRESS lights extinguish. Brake pressure for system
A and B should be 2800 PSI minimum.

(iii) Position system A and B electric pump switches to OFF position.

(iv) Ensure hydraulic quantity gages read between 84 and 100 percent (Flaps up
and engines off).

(v) Verify Brake Accumulator Pressure is greater than or equal to 2800 PSI.

. s) Voice Recorder

(i) Push TEST button. Hold for 5 seconds.

(ii) Verify needle moves to/or remains in green band entire time button is depressed. F
737-800NG fleet verify the test light comes on and stays on entire time button is
depressed.

t) Air Conditioning

(i) Verify trim air switch is on. Verify zone temp lights are extinguished (B737-800 only).
Turn trim air switch back off.

(ii) Perform wing to body annunciator "TEST".

(iii) Press to Test the wing to body over heat switch.

(iv) Verify both wing to body overheat lights, the master caution lights, and air
conditioning system annunciator lights are illuminated.

(v) Release switch and verify lights extinguish.

(vi) Isolation valve switch in AUTO position.

(vii) Both engine bleed air switches ON.

(viii) Verify ram air door full open lights are ON.

(ix) Verify Cabin Pressure Control Module is in AUTO position.

(i) Standby Horizon

- Check for proper attitude and warning flags out of view.

v) Fuel Quantity Indicators

(i) Verify fuel config indication extinguished.

NOTE: May have to turn all the fuel boost pumps to the off position to
extinguish the config indication.

(ii) Check aircraft log book in block 46 and verify that the last known fuel quantity
matches fuel on board. If the aircraft was fueled or had an engine run during
the RON, verify the fuel added or used matches the fuel on board and record
the quantity in the required block of the log book.

. w) Engine Instruments

(i) Check N1 and N2 zero. Check pointers for EGT, FF, oil temperature and
oil pressure displays and also verify digital displays are present. They
will not be displayed until start switch is moved to GRD.

x) Anti-Skid

(i) Verify the anti-skid inop light is extinguished.

y) Auto-Brake - Placed to RTO

(i) Verify Autobrake DISARM light illuminates for 1 to 2 seconds and then
extinguishes. Return RTO switch to off.

z) Radar (IRS alignment must be complete)

(i) Select any mode except TEST on the WXR control panel.

(ii) Turn the WXR on using the EFIS WXR on button.

(iii) Select TEST on the WXR control panel and observe the results.

(iv) Verify no fault messages present.

(v) Select mode selector (WXR switch) off at the end of the test.

(vi) Deselect WXR on the EFIS control panels.

(i) Hold TEST switch for at least 2 seconds.

(ii) Verify the INOP light, the PULL UP lights and the BELOW GLIDE

bb) Speed Brake - Down Detent

(i) Verify speed brake lever is full forward and the speed brake ARM
light is extinguished.

cc) Throttles / Take Off Warning

(i) Advance throttles full travel and back. Verify throttles move freely
and take off warning horn is operating.

(i) Open the "OVHT WW WING BODY" circuit breaker on the F/O electrical

(iii) Test Switch - FAULT/INOP.

(iv) Verify Master Caution, OVHT/DET, fault lights illuminate.

(v) Test Switch - OVHT/FIRE.

(vi) Verify bell sounds and that master fire warning, master caution lights
and OVHT annunciators are illuminated.

(vii) Close the "OVHT WW WING BODY" circuit breaker on the F/O electrical
system panel P6-2.

(i) Position TEST switch to position No. 1.

(iv) Verify the extinguisher TEST lights (3 green) illuminate. Release the TEST switch
and verify all lights extinguish.

NOTE: The Transponder should be in the STBY mode with the ADIRU aligned.

(i) Put the transponder select switch on the TCAS/ATC control panel to the
No. 1 position.

- Press and release the TEST switch on the mode select switch located
on the ATC control panel.

On the Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) verify:

- TCAS TEST shows on the left side of the inboard displays

- The word TRAFFIC shows on the right side of the inboard displays.

- An R/A (red square) shows at 3 o`clock, range of 2 miles, 200 feet


above and flying level (no arrow).

- A Traffic Advisory (yellow circle) shows at 9 o`clock, range of 2 miles,


200 feet below and climbing (up arrow).

- Proximity traffic (solid white diamond) shows at the 1 o`clock, range


of 3.6 miles, 1000 feet below and descending (down arrow).

- Non-Threat Traffic (open white diamond) shows at 11 o`clock, range


of 3.6 miles, 1000 feet above and flying level (No arrow).

- Make sure the outboard displays show the DO NOT CLIMB and DO
NOT DESCEND resolution advisory.

- A TCAS SYSTEM TEST OK synthesized voice announcement comes


on at the end of the test if the test passes.

(ii) Do the test again (step (i)) with the transponder select switch on the control panel set to the No. 2 position.
