Most processors are made of silicon. Meanwhile, this
material can be obtained from sand beaches and most
manufactures make large crystals of high quality silicon.
Primarily, they cut it into slices less than one millimeter thick.
Secondly, the slices, called wafers are treated with chemicals,
gazes and light. After that, these slices are cut into individual
chips. Next, Millions of transistors and very small wires are
built onto chips in several layers. Afterwards, this chip is
tested many times. This is done to ensure that switches and
circuits work properly. Eventually, each chip is inserted into
protective package then allows the processor to connect to
other devices on the motherboard of the computer.
