Practical Activities IIIrd year

General information

Within the discipline Practical activities, the third year students of the Faculty of
Architecture will participate in a series of activities that aim to ensure direct contact with the
reality of their future profession, by participating in guided tours on construction sites, lectures
given by guests, practical demonstrations at the headquarters of specialized companies,
workshops and other related activities.

The guided activities will take place between April 18-21, 2022, as well as during
weeks 9-13, according to the program communicated by the tutors. After that, based
on an individual study, students will make a synthesis of the information received and
will develop the practice book.

The practice book will be handed online, in the summer session or in the overdue
session in September, as the case may be, at a later date.
Students who want to equate the discipline will fill in the online form provided by
the theme until 18.04.2022.
For equivalence, activities such as workshops, summer camps, interventions on
historical monument construction on site, work on pilot projects involving design and / or
execution phases in which students actually participate, etc. are considered eligible1.
Students who have participated in such activities during the academic year 2020-2021
and want the equivalence of the discipline, will present certificates in this regard until the date
set for delivery of the practice book. Also, students who will participate in such activities after
the summer session will deliver the practice book in the September session.

OBIECTIVE:

Within the discipline Practical activities, a series of specific objectives will be pursued,
such as:
 Deepening the theoretical knowledge obtained in the disciplines of Construction,
Practical Applications - Architectural Technology, Architectural Detailing etc., by
carefully studying some interesting examples of constructive subassemblies;
 understanding the role that materials and technologies, integrated in a unitary
architectural concept, have in creating a quality architecture;
 subassemblies will be presented in the form of a detailed drawing, as required.
Document these observations with relevant photographs, drawings and text. The most
representative

1
Examples of activities that can be used for equivalence are workshops such as Bonțida, Bunești, Țibănești
or similar, active involvement in the Monument Ambulance, Adopt a House in Roșia Montană or other similar
initiatives, work on the EFDEN project, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:

The practice book will include photos, drawings and written information about
the knowledge gained from guided site visits and other related activities. It will be
delivered online.

The practice book will be written on A4 / A3 format sheets, saved as separate pdf or jpg
files, at a resolution that allows clear reading of drawings and texts (150 dpi). Each drawing
will include a minimal cartridge in the lower right corner with clear information about the
student's name and group, drawing number, title and scale of the drawing, as appropriate.
Each photograph or drawing must be accompanied by explanatory text. The drawings are
handed out grouped in a file bearing the author's name and the group, on an accessible
online platform provided by the tutor.

The practice book will include the following required pieces:

1. Photographic documentary comprising a minimum of 5 (maximum 10) overview and
detail photos, accompanied by explanatory text, made during site visits. Observation
drawings or other information may be included with photos;

2. Details for 2 constructive subassemblies considered interesting as a subject of study,

identified during site visits, 1:10 scale2. The details will be represented in double
projection (vertical and horizontal section, longitudinal and cross section, section and
view etc. - as appropriate), dimensioned (even approximately), identifying as much as
possible the function, material and dimensions of each element;

3. Visual support comprising a minimum of 5 (maximum 10) overview and detail photos,
collages etc., accompanied by explanatory text, made in the other practical activities
(practical demonstrations at the headquarters of specialized companies, workshops,
etc.). Observation drawings or other information may be included with photos;

4. Other elements considered relevant to the actual activity of the student in the
construction sites, workshop or project in which he participated.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:

 Consistency and clarity of the presentation of the practice book in general and of the
specially drawn pieces;
 The correct understanding of the compositions represented in photos and drawings,
demonstrated by the explanations that accompany each image and by the correctness
of the graphic representation;
 Choosing examples of subassemblies to represent a relevant subject of study;

2
Students who want to equate the discipline will propose details identified and / or made in the
activities in which they were involved. The photographic documentary comprising a minimum of 5
(maximum 10) overview and detail photos, accompanied by explanatory text, will be limited only
to these activities.
 Activity along the way: in order to promote the discipline, it is mandatory to be
present at one of the site visits and at the workshop organized by the tutors;
 They cannot be included in the practice book, those activities at which the
student was absent – those won’t be graded;
 Plagiarized works, copied in whole or in part, will be graded with 1

USEFUL INFORMATION:

 Students who want to equate the discipline ST-14 Practical activities will complete the
following form by Monday, 18.04.2022:

 The tutors will contact the representatives of the students of each group to communicate
to them the program related to the practical activities;
 The presence of students on construction sites is only possible with appropriate
equipment, according to the safety regulations on site mentioned below. Without
the minimum protective equipment, students will not be accepted on site!
