An 8-inch thick concrete slab failed to support the outriggers of a 250-ton crane, causing the crane to lose balance and collapse across a construction site. The crane balanced precariously for an hour before the entire rig and boom collapsed through the slab down to the basement level. Luckily, the incident resulted in no serious injuries or deaths.
