“Motion Multimedia Information

and Media”
I- OVERVIEW

Most people watch a film or a movie because it is a form of entertainment for them.
It is considered a part of someone’s lifestyle, and an opportunity to bond with family
and friends. However, more than entertainment, a film can actually be a good source
of information since it has a story to tell. It is also an effective way of sharing
information and spreading a message since it is both visual and auditory.

Would you be able to listen to a three-hour lecture without falling asleep if your
teacher just talks the entire time? Would it not be much better if your teacher used a
multimedia presentation to catch everyone’s attention in class?

II- LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

 Describes the different dimensions of motion and multimedia
information and media.
 Comprehends how motion and multimedia information and media
is/are formally and informally produced, organized, and
disseminated.
 Evaluates the reliability and validity of motion and multimedia
information and media and its/their sources using selection media.
 Produces and evaluates a creative motion-based presentation and
using design principle and elements.
 Synthesizes overall knowledge about different information and media sources by
producing and subsequently evaluating a creative multimedia form (living museum,
electronic portfolio, others)

ADVANTAGES OF MOTION INFORMATION

 Motion media is an effective form of communication because it is both visual and

auditory.
 The information is easier to understand because the presentation is dynamic.
 Motion media gives the audience the opportunity to learn and enjoy at the same
time.
LIMITATIONS OF MOTION INFORMATION

 Motion media can be subjected to different interpretations from the audience.

 It takes a lot of effort and time to produce, which could delay information
dissemination and learning.

from the production staff to the design team among many others. Without the
right people suitable for the job, the movie’s intended message may not be
captured.

MULTIMEDIA INFORMATION
Multimedia refers to the various forms of media and content that are expressed
using a combination of several platforms, such as photos, videos, and music. In a
multimedia presentation, the information is stored, transmitted, and processed
digitally.

TYPES OF MULTIMEDIA
15. PowerPoint Presentation (PPT). Is one of the software programs of Microsoft
Office. Through PowerPoint, a user can present information as a combination of
text and images. It has template and a collection of images on file, which a user
can incorporate in the presentation.
16. Audio-Visual Presentation. This type of presentation uses both sound and
visual components. The AVP can be an entire video taken from a video recorder.
17. Overhead Projector (OHP). A presentation using an overhead projector is
simple and affordable type of presentation, as it is only able to display text and
images with transparencies.
18. Smart Board. A very effective way to teach lessons to students in class, as it
has an interactive whiteboard that uses touch detection for user input.

CHARACTERISTICS OF MULTIMEDIA INFORMATION

At present, multimedia can refer to a combination of text, graphic art, sound,
animation, and video. Listed below are the characteristics of multimedia.

1. Electronic or digital. Multimedia is prepared and delivered electronically using

various computer applications and online tools.
2. Interactive. A multimedia presentation is interactive because it responds to the
audience’s visual and auditory senses. It also becomes interactive when it allows
the user to do voice command, mouse manipulation, text entry, touch screen and
video capture.
3. Dynamic. A multimedia presentation is dynamic because it can be projected,
played, recorded and accessed using technology and computer applications. The
use of vivid graphics and images, together with sound effects, levels up the
presentation, making it more interesting and attractive to the audience.

USERS OF MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION

1. Teachers or lecturers.
2. Motivational or public speakers.
3. Salespeople.

EVALUATING AND RATING MULTIMEDIA INFORMATION

1. Content. A multimedia presentation varies depending on its content.

2. Purpose or application. Multimedia presentation can be used in many
ways. Therefore, it should be evaluated based on its application.
3. Manner of presentation. A multimedia presentation can be presented in
different ways. The manner of presentation should be rated based on the
following factors.
i. Audience- a young audience, like elementary and high school
students, will pay more attention if the presentation is creative and
interactive. On the other hand, a more mature audience would
prefer a presentation that is more informative and direct in
explaining the details in concrete manner.
ii. Topic- it should be aligned with the type of presentation used so
that the information can be presented effectively and efficiently.
iii. Resources- the manner of presentation is also dependent on the
available resources. There should be key person who knows how
to operate multimedia tools and organize the presentation.

ADVANTAGES OF MULTIMEDIA INFORMATION

 The information is presented in a more interesting and organized manner.

 It complements and empowers the speaker to make his lecture more dynamic
and interactive.
 It makes the information easier to understand since the presentation is presented
in a creative manner.

LIMITATIONS OF MULTIMEDIA INFORMATION

 There is too much information to absorb which overwhelms the audience.

 The speaker becomes too dependent on technology, which he has mastered
operating.
 The delivery of information is jeopardized in the absence of electricity since the
equipment used for the presentation needs power source. Although there are
equipment that use a rechargeable battery, it can eventually get drained.
 It requires more time to conceptualize and plan a presentation that will jibe with
the type of presentation chosen.
V-KEY POINTS

 Motion media is a very effective way of conveying information as it is

both visual and auditory.
 Lectures and reports become more interesting to the audience when
it is presented using motion media, since it uses technology.
 Movies, films, and videos are examples of motion media. Motion
media is a powerful means of expressing a message or imparting
knowledge or information which can influence its audience.
 Multimedia involves audio, video, and animation, apart from text and
visual presentations.
 Multimedia presentation allows users to make creative presentations
as they can add images and sounds, apart from the text.
 Multimedia is an effective form of presentation as the user catches
the attention of the audience by putting interactive elements in the
presentation.
