Form of submission:
You should present your answer to LO1 in an online blog. In addition to the blog, you should
include LO1 and LO4 into one document to submit in Turnitin. You should include the link
for your online blog (eg https://....blogspot.com) in your report submitted to Turnitin.
Word limit: 1,500–2,000 words, although you will not be penalised for exceeding the total
word limit
You should include citations and a bibliography in your report.
To achieve P1, P2, M1, D1, your work should:
P1: Examine the purpose of the accounting function within an organization.
You should discuss: (suggested word limit: 500 words)
- The purpose of accounting
- The scope of accounting in organizations
- The branches of accounting (ie financial accounting, management accounting) and
and job skillsets required for accountants
P2 Assess the accounting function within the organisation in the context of regulatory and
ethical constraints.
You should discuss: (suggested word limit: 400 words)
- regulatory requirements in accounting (ie accounting law and regulation, accounting
standards)
- ethical requirements for accountants.
M1 Evaluate the context and purpose of the accounting function in meeting organisational,
stakeholder and societal needs and expectations.
You should discuss: (suggested word limit: 500 words)
- the users of accounting information
- and their information needs
D1 Provide a critical evaluation of the role of accounting in informing decision-making to
meet organizational, stakeholder and societal needs within complex operating environments
You should evaluate: (suggested word limit: 1000 words)
- how the complex operating environments affect the accounting function (eg new
technology trends and accounting systems, fast and unpredictable changes in business
environments, accounting frauds…)
- how the the accounting function can support decision making in the complex
operating environments

Each student must submit his/her draft assignment at least once for each LO.
Draft submission date:
- for LO1: week 5
