Background of the study

Everyone has owned and used a ballpoint pen at some point in their lives. We carry
ballpoint pens with us from school to work. It can be argued that a ballpoint pen is a close buddy
who is intimately tied to us throughout life. In the technology age like computers, tablets or
smartphone has grown popular as well as wonderful applications to substitute writing and
writing. But, the use and function of a ballpoint pen cannot be replaced. A ballpoint pen is a very
practical and useful tool in everyday life. A ballpoint pen makes learning, working, and writing
more efficient and convenient. - Painters and artists can also produce art from a ballpoint pen;
people can draw portraits, scenarios or art tattoos. Yet, the price of a ballpoint pen is due to the
ink.

In the United States, alugbati (Basella rubra L.) is frequently referred to as Malabar
spinach. It has fairly fleshy leaves and a stem that is purple or green. Its fruits are stalk less, juicy
and can reach 5 to 6 millimeters, and turn purple when mature. Anthocyanin, a substance found
in alugbati fruit extract, can be used to create an alternative ink. Anthocyanin is a soluble
glycoside pigment that gives flowers and other plants their colors. Both permanent markers and
white board markers need ink to be widely functional. A liquid or semi-liquid substance known
as ink is used for writing, printing, and drawing. A colloidal system of tiny pigment particles
distributed in a liquid is how chemists describe it.

Typically, pigments make up the majority of an ink's ingredients and account for around
half of its price. Markets and stores sell a variety of inks, but most of them are pricey, non-
organic, and some are even hazardous and could harm people's health. According to this study,
alugbati fruit extract might be a good substitute for ink in markers. Because it is less poisonous,
more economical, and most importantly, organic, it will not only aid the environment but can
also be of great assistance to the general public.
