Research has shown the women as well as men are being

subjected to various forms of violence in their family day
after day. But so far, no law has been enacted to protect
men. Even the existing domestic Violence Act, 2010 does
not contain anything about men. As a result, most of the
men are silently enduring domestic violence. So, I think
that either a separate law on domestic violence should be
enacted for men or the existing law be amended to include
men.
2. Along with adequate shelters for the domestic violence
victims the government should provide free training in
various types of agricultural work or sewing or other
productive work so that the victims may have the courage
to turn around and been able to raise their children, if any.
And thus, they will be spared from being revictimized and
their children will not have to be subjected to abusive
situation and will be spared from being perpetrator in the
future.

3. The government needs to put more emphasis on the

active implementation of existing law and should urge the
law enforcement authorities not to take domestic violence
lightly. And in this case, if the government monitor their
progress in suppressing domestic violence through
monthly report may be the rate of it will come down even
more.
4. Special measures need to be taken for those living in
remote area, does not hold mobile phone and have very
limited internet access. And in this case, the government
should create awareness among them through various
campaigns so that they can come forward to seek justice
for themselves and for those who are being victimized
around them.

5. Prevention is better than cure. Since domestic violence has

been seen for a long time and there is no precedent for its
decline, the government should take adequate
precautionary measures to help the domestic violence
victims in case of any emergency situation or in any crisis
like COVID19.

6. Local government need to be more powerful. Domestic

violence committee should have been formed at district,
thana, union parishad level to prevent oppression on
victims.

7. Education is above all. And one should not be self-

educated but well- educated. Education about gender
equality,

8. Sometimes minds cannot be changed by laws but religious

belief can. And in this case what needs to be done is that
the religious leaders should come forward. For instance, in
case of Muslim they can put discussion on domestic
violence in every Friday prayers where most of the
worshipers are present. So, in this way if the leaders of
every religion talk about domestic violence along with
their religious discourse, I think that it may have positive
impact on many and thus, the heinous crime of domestic
violence will be reduced from our society.
