transfer their knowledge to explore emerging
technologies.
What is the student learning goal(s)  for this lesson idea?
I expect students to locate regions of Georgia and be able to tell facts about each region.
Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):

One way I will promote student learning to a higher level is after they complete the lesson provided from Pear
Deck, they will complete the EdPuzzle. I will be assessing their answers and categorize them in their respectful
groups, whether that means they need more help or they can continue with the next step.
How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

x Teacher-led: There is no student  voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by
teacher direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly practice
based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates the
learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems
and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of
the classroom.  (Note:  This  objective  could be reached by  displaying  the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog,  presenting  it  to another class,  or publishing via an
outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:
The teacher will be hosting a live session with Pear Deck, in which the students will follow their
instructions. Pear Deck has many gadgets such as YouTube links, interactive websites, and opinion
pieces that will keep students engaged and focused. For the students prior knowledge, I will have
them draw out Georgia from memory, then I will share their drawings and we can discuss them. In
the YouTube videos provided, I will share real-life locations in each region, in which they will share
whether or not they have been there. Their learning is assessed by their participation and answers,
additionally the ticket-out-the-door is an EdPuzzle which is a review of a previous video with
questions.

Managing student learning:

This lesson provides both passive and active social learning because it provides videos for children to
soak up information and they can interact with the gadgets from Pear Deck. However, to ensure
there is enough time on the task, each slide takes about 3-5 minutes to complete. For discussion, it
will be randomized so that everyone has a turn to speak.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
This lesson provides all three principles of a universal design of learning. I keep the students engaged
by multiple means of information, whether that be videos or interactive websites. For
representation, there is a diverse amount of information one can learn from the internet, such as
educational websites. Lastly, on Pear Deck there are many ways for students to express themselves
and share what they wrote about.
Reflective Practice:
I do believe this tool will help students build understanding by providing them with a new sense of
expression, such as silly prompts that will make them laugh and get engaged throughout the lesson.
Websites like Pear Deck make teaching fun and having assessments like EdPuzzle makes it easier to
see where students are standing academically. I look forward to teaching them about the regions
because I know you can use a cookie cake as an example. Which I for sure am going to be
implementing!
