What is the student learning goal for this lesson idea?

Students will be able to identify opaque, transparent, and translucent. Students will be able to
recognize artificial and natural light.

Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy Level(s): (Which level(s) will this lesson meet using this
technology tool?)

Creating
How will this lesson be implemented? Check all that apply. (Sometimes only one option
will apply.)

☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are
guided by the teacher's direction and expectations.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the
topic for presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal.
Products of learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a
lesson like this.

☐ Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their

learning and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be
reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to
the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.

Lesson idea implementation: I plan for students to address standard S4P1. Obtain,
evaluate, and communicate information about the nature of light and how light interacts with
objects. Students will access the lesson on the Web 2.0 tool google slides. Students will watch
two videos that will introduce natural and artificial light and define the words opaque,
transparent, and translucent. The collaboration and communication tool peer deck will allow
students to practice understanding of the newly gained knowledge. Students will also express
wonderings and concerns throughout the lesson using peer deck. Toward the end of the lesson
students will take an assessment via Kahoot to test standard mastery. Based on the results I
will provide remediation to select students.

Managing the technology/engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in

a way that gets students actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? How
will you manage the classroom behaviors on the technology: I will manage
classroom behaviors on the technology by actively viewing students' progress
throughout the lesson. I will note who needs to be redirected, who is excelling, and
who needs assistance. Peer deck has a unique feature that allows students to move at
their own pace. This will help students who may be overwhelmed with the virtual
lesson.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This activity supports the UDL framework
action and expression by letting students demonstrate their knowledge of the light and
how it interacts with objects. Students have multiple opportunities to express concerns
and needs throughout.
Reflecting on enhanced learning:
This activity/lesson ideal will engage students because it requires students to explore
with new software features, collaborate with classmates, and practice understanding of
knowledge.
