Project Abstract

Islamic Dawah Training Centre (IDTC) is seeking a grant to construct a six classroom primary
school, a six class room secondary school for over 400 underprivileged children hailing from the
poorest families who cannot afford to pay for quality education in other schools. The objective is
to provide free quality education that will equip underprivileged children for employment upon
graduation. Funding in the amount of Le 237,470,000 = US $ 54,901 is requested for the
construction of the two schools and administration building.

Statement of Need

IDTC has 135 underprivileged school going (primary and secondary) children who are currently
receiving support from Muslim Aid UK Rainbow Family Programme. About 300 more children
are still awaiting sponsorship and most of them have lost their parents to war and disease.
These 435 children will be at a high risk of drop out when Muslim Aid terminates its support from
them, because these children cannot support themselves, let alone for quality education. The
provision of primary and secondary schools with free quality education will sustain Muslim Aid
effort, reduce the risk of drop out, enable the children achieve improvements in their lives and
open more opportunities for other unfortunate children in the future. The US $ 49,576 requested
will provide 12 classrooms for 420 underprivileged children.

Project Description

The school project construction for the underprivileged students will compose of two structures.
One structure will be for the primary pupils, with six classrooms (20 X 20 ft) for grades 1 to 6.
The other structure will be for secondary students containing six classrooms (20X20 ft) for
grades 7 to 12. This project will increase the underprivileged students’ confidence in the
continuation of their education in the event that donor stops supporting them. The schools will
also benefit at least 500 other low – income school children in the community within a period of
five years.

Goals and objectives

The goal of constructing schools for the underprivileged students of the Rainbow Family and
others is to enable them complete their secondary education even if Muslim Aid stops
supporting them.

The main objectives include:

1. Providing conducive learning environment free of cost.
2. Providing quality education that will prepare them for post secondary education
