Procedure 1: Welding on the Fold-Over Chute
On the Fold-Over Chute, Chute Lug (P/N 1561971) must be welded on. This part is what the chute assist cable is
connected to on the Fold-Over Chute.

1. Lower Main Chute assembly to its lowest position. Flip open the Fold-Over Chute.

2. Support the Fold-Over Chute. Keep the bolt on the chute.

3. The chute lug (P/N 1561971) must be welded on the end of the Fold-Over Chute that connects to the Main
Chute. As it is shown in Figure 4, place chute lug against the Fold-Over chute at the measurement shown
to ready the lug to be welded. INSTALLATION NOTE: A socket can be placed over the pivot nut to aid with
centering the chute lug (P/N 1561971) with the pivot bolt.

4. Weld chute lug (P/N 1561971) to the Fold-Over Chute using a 1/4 inch fillet weld. Weld on inside side only (as

5. Adjust the tension so when the fold-over chute is in the UP/CLOSED position, the cable is taut and does not
droop or sag.
6. Once the proper tension is achieved, apply Blue Loctite® on the nuts and bolts, and tighten the nuts to lock
the adjustment. Any time adjustment of the tension is necessary, reapply Blue Loctite® to the nuts and bolts.
NOTE: Over-extension of the spring beyond 22-1/4” will damage the spring.
7. Inspect the chutes and chute assist daily for wear, cable damage, pulley damage, and the correct tension.
Inspect and adjust as necessary especially after the cables and springs stretch.

8. Clean the chutes and chute assist components, prep the welded areas for paint, and paint them.

9. The surface that the decals are applied to should be at room temperature or above. If the truck has been
outside in cold weather, it must be warmed up before decals are applied.

10. Clean the area on the Main Chute for the decal (see Figure 17) with glass cleaner or Isopropyl Alcohol and
clean cloth. Let the area dry completely (do this on both sides of the chute at the same location). There must
be no dirt, oil, grease, or solvent residue remaining on the surface prior to decal application.
