Habitat and Distribution

Snakes are found on every continent except Antarctica. They can live in a wide range
of habitats, from deserts and grasslands to rainforests and even underwater. Some
species of snakes are adapted to living in trees, while others are burrowers or live in
rocky crevices. Snakes are also found in a variety of climates, from the cold tundra of
the Arctic to the hot, humid tropics.

Snakes play an important role in the ecosystem. They are predators that help control
populations of rodents and other small animals, which can become pests if left
unchecked. Snakes are also preyed upon by a variety of animals, including birds of
prey, mammals, and other snakes.
