PLANE AND SOLID GEOMETRY

Circumference and Area of a Circle

Circle
A circle is a two-dimensional figure formed by a set of points that are
at a constant or at a fixed distance (radius) from a fixed point (center) on the
plane.

Radius
The radius is the distance from the center to any point on the circle.

Radius is just half of diameter or r=d/2.

Diameter
Diameter is the distance across through its center point.

The diameter is just 2 times the radius or 2r=d.

Pi
The number π is a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle's
circumference to its diameter. Approximately equal to 3.14.

Circumference
The circumference is the distance around a circle.

The formula to find circumference is C=πd or C=2πr

EXAMPLES:

C= πd

C= 3.14 x 25

C= 78.5 cm

C= 2πr

C= 2 x 3.14 x 10
