Misinformation on COVID-19

in the Philippines

This is coming from?

DOH Undersecretary Eric Domingo said a
widely circulated image on social media
advised gargling warm water with salt to
"remove the virus” which caught the
attention of many.

What could be their reason for

creating and sharing it?
Because no one knew how to treat or assist the virus weaken

when the outbreak occurred. Since there was never a

treatment to begin with, they made the decision to propagate
false information to deceive others about "having a cure".

Why is it trending?
People finally seen that there will be a
virus treatment, which is why it became
popular. Because at that time, everyone
was figuring out how to find a cure.

What evidences can convince a

victim of this fake news?
Some people had already believed it and shared it

to other people which of course lead to more

confusion and fake news. And people believe
anything they see online which is a problem.
