1. Login to your XU Gmail Account

2. Open http://bit.ly/MS365educ in a new tab, then select “Students and teachers,


sign up yourself”

3. Enter your XU Gmail Account

4. Select “I’m a teacher“ for both faculty and staff

5. Copy verification code sent to your XU Gmail Account and fillout the necessary
information to create your account.

6. Once you log in, click Teams to launch the app

Signing in to MS Teams

1. Start Teams.

A. In Windows, click start . Select or search for Microsoft Teams

B. On Mac, go to the Applications folder and click Microsoft Teams.

C. On mobile, tap the Teams icon.

2. Sign in with your Microsoft Office 365 username and password.

Note: If you can’t access your Microsoft Office 365, kindly email CISO at

Add members to your team
A. Add members within XU organization
B. Add members who are outside XU organization ( referred as Guest )

A. Add members within XU organization

1. If you are a team owner, go to the team names list

2. Click More options > Add member

3. Enter student or staff names and select Add.

Note: If you receive a “We didn’t find any matches” error while typing
the name, the student or staff doesn’t have a Microsoft Office 365
account yet.

4. Select Done when you’re finished.

Note: To add co-teachers to this class team, choose the Teachers tab
and enter names.

Add guest to your team

B. Add members who are outside XU organization ( referred as Guest )

Note: Guests must have a Microsoft 365 work or school account. If the guest doesn’t
have a Microsoft account associated with their email address, they will be
directed to create one for free.

1. Enter the guest’s email address. Anyone with a business or email account,
such as Outlook, Gmail or others, can join your team as guest.

2. Click Add. Guest will receive a welcome email invitation that includes
some information about joining.

Start a chat in Teams

1. Click the chat icon on the left side of Teams.

2. Select New chat or the icon at the top of your chat list to start a one-on-one
chat.

3. Enter the name of the person with who you would like to start a chat.

4. Compose your message in the box at the bottom of the chat. To open formatting
options , select Format beneath the box where you type your message.

5. When you’re ready, select Send to start the chat.

A. Join from Calendar

1. Select Calendar on the left side of Teams to view your meetings.

2. Find the meeting you want and select Join.

B. Join in a channel

1. To join an ongoing channel meeting, select the camera icon next to


the channel name.

2. The meeting appears on the Conversations tab along with any notes or files
shared. Select Join.
