Watch Keeper / Duty Engineer: 1. Before taking over the Engineering Watch, the Relieving Watch Keeper Shall be Informed asto the Job Order for the day, the work being performed on Machinery or Control Equipment and System Onboard. Likewise the Personnel Involved and the Potential Hazards of the Activity. 2. Make Frequent Rounds of Inspection to Monitor and Determine Possible Equipment Malfunction or Failure. Take Immediate Remedial Action to Ensure Safety of Personnel, Assets, and Protection of the Environment. 3. Ensure than Necessary Precautions are taken to Prevent Accident or Damage to the Various Electrical, Electronic, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, and Mechanical System of the Ship. 4. Any Important Events Affecting the Operations, Adjustment or Repair of the Ship’s Machinery are to be Record. Engine Room Logbook shall be fill up properly and to be Updated. 5. When Bunkering, Measures shall be made to Prevent Violation o f Pollution Regulation. Use the Bunkering Checklist.
General Standing Order:
A. Before Commencing any Activity Full P.P.E should be Properly Worn, i.e. Coveralls Safety Helmets, Safety Boots, Hand Gloves, Eye Goggles, Work Vest, Safety Hardness and etc. Smoke only in a designated area. B. Chief Engineer shall Sign and Approved by Master when Working, i.e. Hot Work, Cold Work, Working aloft, Entering Confined Spaces, Working Over the Side of the Vessel or Electrical/ Mechanical Isolation is Required. PTW form should be Signed and Approved before Work Commenced. C. Handing over Duties must be done 15 minutes before so to Familiarize with State of Machineries; the Condition and Cleanliness in the Engine Room. Recording of the tasks carried out and all tools arranged accordingly after each watch. D. Before Starting Engine Check Crankcase Lube Oil level, and Expansion Tank. Then Monitor Lube Oil Pressure, Water Temperature Check Bilges Level Engine Room, Bow Thruster & Steering Room. Drain Water from Fuel and Ensure Service always full. E. Check Main Switch Board and if Synchronize Generator Ensure the Voltage, Hz, Load, Ampere must be Compare. F. Sleeping while on duty, When the Ship is Sailing at Anchor or in Port is Strictly Forbidden. Officers/Greaser must be on duty during their allotted time in the Engine Room and not in the Mess Room or Saloon. Everyone Is Reminded That a Job Shall Not Start or Continue If The Believe It Cannot Be Done Safely or It Fails To Meet Environmental And Health Standards. If You Are In Doubt of Anything at Anytime, Call or Inform the Chief Engineer Immediately
