PROGRAM OBJECTIVES IN ALL COURSES

I. Program Objectives

Bachelor of Science in Psychology


Bachelor of Science in Psychology Program must:

1. Develop student’s intellectual and social abilities, efficiency, and creativity to apply his
acquired knowledge, skills, talents in the different professions in the field of psychology
and to take part in any societal endeavors geared towards the development of individuals;
2. Equip students with sufficient knowledge and skills necessary to discharge duties and
functions of his/her profession; and
3. Enhance student’s awareness of himself and others, become an active agent of change
and development, and promote the positive values such as equality, social justice, social
orientation, genuine love of people, and others.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES


Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in English Language (ABEL) Program must:
1. Develop comprehensive knowledge of the English language – its origin, growth and
development, structures, and use;
2. Enhance the use of the English language in real-world contexts;
3. Develop appropriate strategies of language use through heightened awareness of how
English works in different situations in the Philippines and in Asia and the rest of the
world;
4. Develop investigative and critical analysis through English research; and
5. Transform to become better individuals through language and literature learning.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BA Comm) Program must:


1. Develop critical minds with enough skills in the mass communication
profession to enable them to put issues and societal concerns in perspective;
and
2. Elevate their level of awareness of public issues that directly and indirectly
affect them.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Program must:

1. provide students with the analytical tools to address local, regional and national
problems and issues, as well as achieve their career objectives;
2. provide students with the knowledge and skills essential for dealing with the emerging
trends in re-shaping the political landscape;
3. aid a student’s career pursuit in local and national government, as well as in business
and non-profit organizations; and
4. provide an excellent foundation for students who intend to pursue graduate study in
law, public administration, business or in any other social sciences.

Program Educational Objectives

Graduates of BS Biology program must:

1. be competent in the application of theories and principles governing the science of


life;
2. be aware and show high degree of understanding their role in the maintenance of
the integrity of the material world and the quality of life;
3. be motivated to pursue advanced degrees of biology or allied fields, join the
academe as science teachers or engage in various biological technologies; and
4. be skilled to become researchers and decision makers in public and private
scientific endeavors.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES


Graduates of the BSCS Program should:

1. have advanced their practice in the field of Computer Science and/or other life-long
learning endeavours in line to their acquired knowledge and skills;
2. be responsive to the demands of time and industry, locally and internationally, and be
able to adapt in the ever-changing field of computer science; and
3. uphold professional and ethical responsibilities, and contribute to society through
active engagement.

Bachelor of Science in Accountancy


A graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy must be:

1. Demonstrative of effective interpersonal skills, combining personal dynamism with good


problem-solving, decision-making, innovation and team skills that are de rigueur in the
new, competitive accounting environment.
2. Confident in passing the two levels of the CPA Licensure Examinations as well as
available global certification/assessments.
3. Capable of combining intellectually to the development and application of new and
relevant ideas that enrich accounting and auditing literature through disciplined, applied
business research.
4. Actively engaged in employing accounting and auditing as tools for promoting business
economic prosperity and nation-building.
5. A dynamic advocate of high moral values and business ethics in all aspects of
professional accounting work.
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management
A graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial
Management must be:

1. Instrumental to contribute to the economic development through creating resources that


permit development and welfare for the common good and prosperity in society.
2. Highly entrepreneurial-driven and socially responsible citizen who can compete in the
global market.
3. Competent with the techniques, skills and knowledge in the pursuit of their chosen career.
4. Adhere to outreach programs that would support community wellbeing.
5. Acquainted in conducting research relevant to innovation in business and industry.

Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management


A graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management Program must be:

a. Have faith in God in heart and mind;


b. Involved actively in any educational activities, either as a leader or member;
c. Commissioned to local, national, and global society to its development by means of
becoming persevere and competent;
d. Established sound rapport with the hospitality industry, hence, to be equipped with vast
knowledge, appropriate skills, and acceptable attitudes;
e. Trained proficient and dedicated graduate with an essential knowledge, upright skills,
and ethical values required in his/her chosen career;
f. Engaged outreach programs that would advocate the improvement of the community;
g. Developed relevant hospitality research findings for the betterment of the society.
h. Developed strong sense of nationalism and dignity in the practice of the hospitality
profession; and
i. Acquired positive values such as self-reliance, independent thinking, sense of
responsibility and leadership or membership in an organization.

Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management major in Cruise Ship Management


Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management major in Cruise Ship
Management Program must be:

a. Have faith in God in heart and mind;


b. Involved actively in any educational activities, either as a leader or member;
c. Commissioned to local, national, and global society to its development by means of
becoming persevere and competent;
d. Established sound rapport with the hospitality industry, hence, to be equipped with
vast knowledge, appropriate skills, and acceptable attitudes;
e. Trained proficient and dedicated graduate with an essential knowledge, upright skills,
and ethical values required in his/her chosen career;
f. Engaged outreach programs that would advocate the improvement of the community;
g. Developed relevant hospitality research findings for the betterment of the society.
h. Developed strong sense of nationalism and dignity in the practice of the hospitality
profession;

j. Developed efficient, reliable, and well-trained world-class cruise shipping workers;
k. Attained the highest standard of education in the field of cruise line industry
profession worldwide through the competent officers and professors, and
l. Provided the advanced technical knowledge and operations on the modern cruise ship
technology.

Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management


Graduates of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management should:

1. Exhibit leadership in the tourism industry;


2. Act and manage in a global and multicultural environment;
3. Equipped with balanced knowledge and skills in tourism work;
4. Conduct researches concerning tourism development program; and
5. Promote Philippines by valuing the country’s socio-economic, socio-cultural, heritage
and environment.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing


By the time of graduation, the students of the program shall have the ability to:

a. Apply knowledge of physical, social, natural and health sciences, and humanities in
the practice of nursing.
b. Provide safe, appropriate and holistic care to individuals, families, population group
and community utilizing nursing process
c. Apply guidelines and principles of evidence-based practice in the delivery of care.
d. Practice nursing in accordance with existing laws, legal, ethical and moral principles.
e. Communicate effectively in speaking, writing and presenting using culturally-
appropriate language.
f. Document to include reporting up-to-date client care accurately and comprehensively.
g. Work effectively in collaboration with inter-, intra- and multi-disciplinary and multi-
cultural teams.
h. Practice beginning management and leadership skills in the delivery of client care
using a systems approach.
i. Conduct research with an experienced researcher.
j. Engage in lifelong learning with a passion to keep current with national and global
developments in general, and nursing and health development in particular.
k. Demonstrate responsible citizenship and pride of being a Filipino.
l. Apply techno-intelligent care systems and processes in health care delivery.
m. Adopt the nursing core values in the practice of the profession.
n. Apply entrepreneurial skills in the delivery of nursing care.

Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science


By the time of graduation, the students of the program shall have the ability to:

a) perform competently clinical laboratory tests in aid of diagnosis, treatment and


management of diseases vis-à-vis biosafety and waste management;
b) analyze problems encountered in the laboratory/workplace.
c) collect, analyze, and project health information for improving the health care management
system;
d) exhibit entrepreneurship skills in areas related to Medical Technology practice
e) demonstrate inter personal skills, leadership qualities and ethical practice of the
profession;
f) conduct researches in relevant areas of Medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science
and public health care practice;
g) participate in community-relevant activities;
h) pursue lifelong learning;
i) communicate effectively;
j) teach and share relevant practices in medical technology/ public health.

Bachelor in Elementary Education


Graduates of the BEEd Program must be able to:
1. exhibit competence necessary in the application of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values
as a facilitator of learning
2. manifest meaningful and comprehensive pedagogical content knowledge in his/her field of
specialization.
3. conduct educational research in curriculum development, instructional planning,
materials and resources development, instructional delivery, educational assessment and
other educational advances and innovations.
4. acquire the pedagogical knowledge in planning, monitoring, assessing and reporting
learning processes and outcomes
5. set as a role model in the practice of teaching as the noblest profession by applying
moral and ethical standards and values.
6. engage in activities and endeavors for professional and personal development

Bachelor of Science in Architecture


The objectives of the Bachelor of Science in Architecture are to develop the following
outcomes :

1. Perform standard competencies in accordance with the scope of the global and local
practice of architecture.
2. Show traits of professionalism, sense of responsibility, equality and patriotism.
3. Receptiveness to new ideas and knowledge through scientific research.
4. Direct and focus the thrust of architecture education to the needs and demands of society
and its integration into the social, economic, cultural and environmental aspects of nation
building.
5. Instil understanding of the basic philosophy and fundamental principles of multi-
dimensional aspects of architecture, and the direct relationship between man and his
environment.

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering


To produce graduates of Civil Engineering who are able to:
1. Achieve a good level of technical expertise in structural design, and construction project
management;
2. Apply their knowledge and skill of the five specialty divisions of Civil Engineering
profession in the practice of civil Engineering;
3. Do research activities in line with the Civil Engineering profession;
4. Identify the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and
societal context; and
5. Undertake lifelong learning and adapt the changing environment.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
After graduation, students of the program shall have developed the ability to:
a. apply knowledge of mathematics and science to solve complex mechanical engineering
problems;
b. design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data;
c. design a system, component or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints,
in accordance with standards;
d. function in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams;
e. identify, formulate and solve complex mechanical engineering problems;
f. understand professional and ethical responsibility;
g. communicate effectively;
h. understand the impact of mechanical engineering solutions in a global, economic,
environmental, and societal context;
i. recognize the need for, and engage in life-long learning;
j. know contemporary issues;
k. use techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for mechanical engineering
practice;
l. know and understand engineering and management principles as a member and leader of a
team, and to manage projects in a multidisciplinary environment;
m. develop and enhance positive values.

Bachelor of Science in Criminology


Graduates of the Criminology Program must:
1. Provide opportunity, instruction, guided experience and relevant training by which the
students acquire the basic knowledge and skills essential to the practice of Criminology.
2. Prepare the students for a career in Law Enforcement and its related work;
3. Provide student’s knowledge of constitutional provision and due process of law for proper
administration of justice.
4. Imbibe true spirit of citizenship and leadership, and understanding of one’s moral and
legal responsibilities to his fellowmen, community and country;
5. Inspire and instill in the students the value of service to humanity; and
6. Encourage the application of research and inquiry along the field of Criminology.

Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering


A graduate of BSMarE shall be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the competence at
the operational level under Table A-III/1 and some elements of Table A-III/2 of the STCW
Code.

Graduates of BSMarE should be able to:


a. Apply knowledge in mathematics, science and technology in solving problems related
to the profession and the workplace;
b. Evaluate the impact and implications of various contemporary issues in the global and
social context of the profession;
c. Engage in lifelong learning and keep abreast with developments in the field of
specialization and/or profession;
d. Use appropriate techniques, skills and modern tools in the practice of the profession in
order to remain globally competitive; and
e. Conduct research using appropriate research methodologies

Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation


A graduate of BSMT shall be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the competence at the
operational level under Table A-II/1 and some elements of Table A-II/2 of the STCW Code.
Graduates of BSMT should be able to:

a. Apply knowledge in mathematics, science and technology in solving problems related to


the profession and the workplace;
b. Evaluate the impact and implications of various contemporary issues in the global and
social context of the profession;
c. Engage in lifelong learning and keep abreast with developments in the field of
specialization and/or profession;
d. Use appropriate techniques, skills and modern tools in the practice of the profession in
order to remain globally competitive; and
