Course Aims: For students undertaking this course, they will be able to: 1) Identify and Analysis the different concepts of costs, and Use the break-even analysis. 2) Basic concepts of engineering economy and interest relationships. 3) Compare between the different projects using engineering economy applications and methods. 4) Make replacement analysis, and Use and evaluate the different depreciation and taxes methods. 5) Schedule and manage the industrial and mechanical projects 6) Contracts and contracts management, and Mechanical engineering laws e.g. industrial taxes laws Program Competences Served by the Course Level (A) Engineering Competencies: A1: Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying engineering fundamentals, basic science, and mathematics. A2: Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation and/or simulation, analyze and interpret data, assess and evaluate findings, and use statistical analyses and objective engineering judgment to draw conclusions. Program Competences Served by the Course Level (B) Mechanical Engineering Competencies At the end of this course, the students will be able to: B1: Model, analyze and design cost systems applicable to the specific discipline by applying the concepts of mechanical engineering topics. B2: Plan and manage economic feasibility study using the traditional means and computer-aided tools e.g. Excel software. B3: Select the mechanical equipment according to the required performance. B4: Adopt suitable national and international standards and codes, integrate legal, economic and financial aspects to design, build, operate, inspect and maintain mechanical equipment and systems.
