NATURE OF SCHOOL LEADERSHIP

School effectiveness and performance largely depend on the skills and competence of the
principals. They need the requisite leadership skills to ensure that all students have access to quality
instruction and all educators are held accountable for students' learning.

Educational leaders regularly deal with a variety of organizational problems from multiple levels
of an organization. The administrators' ability to flexibly deal with each situation according to the
maturity and personality of the people involved often determines the effectiveness of their solution.
Principals and other school administrators deal with very young children from an infinite range of
backgrounds, with parents and guardians from all economic levels and educational levels, and with
educators from a plethora of personalities and emotional states. If school administrators are not capable
of formulating solutions contingent upon the characteristics of each situation, they will find difficulty in
effectively managing their campus.

The school administrators should be both institution and administrative leaders. Effective
instructional leaders impact student achievement, teachers' attitudes, student behavior, and community
support. Instructional leadership should take a large percentage on the works of school leaders for they
specify and implement school vision, mission, organizes school programs, and achieving these goals is
promoting learning by constructing an appropriate climate. And doing administrative functions means
possessing technical skills in any form.

The nature of school leadership is empowering each stakeholder through school-based

management. And the ultimate aim of this, quality education is served to all kinds of learners.
